Hello guys! This is my first time posting on the forum, so bear with me if I make some mistakes. Recently I've brought my first ever car, which is a lovely i30 FD 2009. I love the car so far, I've already fitted a sunroof lamp as mine didn't come with one and also installed an android head unit. Everything is perfect with it mechanically except some electrical issues. My main issue is that the 3rd brake lamp, which is in the rear top, doesn't work when I press the brake pedal. I've found a genuine one and tried to replace it myself. When I connect the new lamp and press the brake pedal, I get the same issue, basically nothing happens. Low Oil Pressure Warning at Low RPM – 2017 Hyundai i30 1.4 T-DGI Premium (36k miles, Full Hyundai Service History)

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently started experiencing a red low oil pressure warning light, but only under specific conditions:

It only appears when the engine is up to temperature
It only comes on when the revs drop below ~1500rpm
At idle (just below 1000rpm when warm), the warning light is consistently on
Other than the warning light, the engine sounds normal, and the car generally feels fine to drive. The only thing I’ve noticed is that it might feel a little sluggish in 1st gear when pulling away, but since I haven’t owned it long, I don’t have a solid comparison.

My 2011 fd Diesel is increasing in oil level. My assumption is it is filling with diesel. The oil is very thin. I have no fault codes and the car runs and drives ok. Anyone got any ideas?  I have re-sealed the injectors with no fix.  My. ext thought was high pressure fuel pump??  Any help is greatly appreciated.

I changed the gearbox oil today, the following series of photos shows how I did it on my drive, without the benefit of a vehicle lift. There's no need to get under the car, the two plastic screws which attach the cover in the wheel arch to the plastic undertray can be reached from the side. A stubby screwdriver is useful for this due to the low working height.

Why can't you buy an EPB switch for a RHD i30 in Australia?
I am on my 3rd switch now in a 2018 N Line. First one replaced under warranty no worries but replacing the second one seems to be a drama. I managed to modify a LHD  switch easily enough but I want a genuine RHD switch. Can't seem to find one anywhere in the world. Seems Hyundai has got us stitched up on this item.

Hi all! Long time since I’ve been here. Hope every one is well.

My i30 (GD MY14 Premium) has developed the dreaded steering knock issue. She just went in for her 120k service and I mentioned that the car has developed a “loose knock” feeling in the steering wheel when driving at low speeds and that I can feel any bumps coming up through the steering wheel.

My mechanic knew immediately what the issue was and said “needs a new bushing”. Couple of questions though:

1) after doing some research I can see the bushing is a tiny little star shaped piece of plastic. I understand how this can cause the steering knock and loose feeling in the wheel. But can this tiny piece of plastic also be the cause of me now feelin...

Last year I bought an i30 CW 1.6 CRDi (90 hp). As long as there is no cold weather there is no problem, but as soon as the temperature drops below 5-6 degrees (Celsius), the cold starting is difficult. The glowplugs were replaced last year (3 were bad), but the problem was not solved with the new glowplugs either. Since then the EGR valve, the glow plug power cable bridge and the battery have been replaced. The problem was not resolved. This year it is even harder to start, and white smoke comes out of the exhaust after starting, and there is a strong diesel smell around the car. All signs point to a bad glow. 

I read on this forum that there are two types of glowplugs for this type:

I had a new battery fitted to my 2018 Hyundai yesterday. Prior to this the 2 day light symbols would show on the dashboard. Today I drove the car and the day lights are working but not showing up on the dashboard except for about a minute of the journey. Is this now correct or should they show up on the dashboard please? I have called the garage who fitted the battery and I am waiting for them to get back to me.

Hi there, I just got a used Hyundai i30 2018 PDE about a month ago. I noticed that occasionally, especially when moving off in slow moving traffic (about 13km/h), I will experience this sudden loss of acceleration where the car speed remains at 13km/h and pressing the pedal down more does not change anything. This happens for about 2 to 3 seconds before power recovers. It is as though the ECU "hangs". I have managed to datalog the latest occurrence this morning (ignore the numbers on the vertical axis) thru Car Scanner Pro and you can clearly see that the RPM and Speed does not respond to pedal input until 2 seconds later.
