LOL Shambles. Staying on topic i wouldnt trust anyone other than a dealer to program the key, I have had problems with "locksmiths" in the past with a Ford key fob.

TODAY WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE MAGIC MILE OF MOTORS, I CALLED INTO HYUNDAI.  IN THE SERVICE CENTER I ASKED ABOUT THE COST OF A KEY AND ALSO WHAT FREQUENCY IT USES.  A TECHNICIAN SAID IT WAS ON THE BACK OF THE KEY, 433.  THEY QUOTED ME $580 FOR THE KEY ETC.  I WALKED OUT SMILING AND SURE ENOUGH THE TOP ROW OF NUMBERS GIVES THE FREQUENCY.  THE NUMBERS ON MINE ARE 2L600-433-EU-TP.  NOW I WANT A PAT ON THE BACK FOR ALL MY TROUBLES.  THIS COULD SAVE A LOT OF PEOPLE A LOT OF MONEY.

$580! :faint:
That's almost as bad as the four plastic wheel trims I got a price on a couple of days ago for a 2006 MC Accent.
$500 including the centre caps.
Couldn't believe it. And that (apparently) is trade......

The key arrived on Thursday and today Monday I had it programmed at Hyundai.  There were no problems and I was charged $60 plus as I walked away I realised they cut the blade.  So all up this has cost me $145.  These keys are definately genuine.

Yep, I seem to remember saying that, despite...

So there we go :D

Hi Guys i have recently been  in contact  with  a 2008 i30  owner in brisbane that  bought  a non remote transponder key from fobskeybank in the UK on ebay.
he was keeping me updated with the outcome of how successful the key  was to  program to  his car. see below
*************************
I had both keys cut and they were both successfully tuned to our car.
The key from the UK cost $30 to have cut.
The key from Amalgamated Locksmiths, which included the remote control, was $150 cut and delivered.
Hyundai charged $45 to tune both keys.
So either option seems good. If you don’t want/need the remote then a bit over $100 will have you covered or under $200 if you want the remote.
I got the remote key from Amalgamated Locksmiths 108 Breakfast Creek Rd Newstead (07) 3252 7872
Hope this is helpful

so  i think  that  at  least  the non remote i30  keys from ebay  are perfectly suited to  have programmed to  our cars here in oz. i have bought and had cut the same non remote from fobskeybank and am  also  buying the uncut remote key  from aliexpress http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Hyundai-i30-3-button-remote-key-control-433mhz-with-ID46-chip/749376750.html for $55(fobskeybank  has a remote key  but it is 434mhz and  i need 433mhz  :blubber:  ), as it has the same specs as my original  remote key.
then  i shall  get  hyundai  to  program them
Hope this helps someone.

More importantly, the behaviour of the circuit is governed by the PCF7936AS chip here.

In reality it is the computer 'heart' of the key that you need. I wonder what the wreckers would charge for an old key. Either replace the 'key' bit with a blank, or get a new shell and do a heart transplant.

Take it to the good people at Hyundai and have it programmed and there you go.

Either way you are assured that the important bit is genuine Hyundai and what you need.

Good point beerman. There can't be much use for these keys once the car's wrecked.

I've bought both  a cut non  remote manual key and the cut remote i30 key from fobkeysbank  and have noticed that  the code on my  remote key  says 040- 433-EU-TP  . i have also been told by  fobkeysbank  that  433 and 434mhz keys are identical (from  research  i have found that hyundai  keys are at  433.92 mhz and might be rounded up or down  on the key  sticker) and can so can be used on the AU sold cars.
that said i am  yet to  have them  programmed  but i did talk  to  a brisbanite who  has had a non remote key  from  fobkeysbank  successfully programmed to  his 2008  i30 in the last  few weeks.
Please correct  me if i have got the wrong information regarding the mhz!!!

found this on another site as well
The real frequency is 433.92 MHz - mostly referred to as 433 MHz but sometimes also as 434 MHz but at the end they always mean the same. There is only one different frequency being used and that's 315 MHz (e.g. in the US). However, the frequency is just one thing other than that the encryption/algorithm has to match.

Like I said earlier, 1MHz is neither here nor there. I'd be confident all designs described as either are the same in terms of carrier freq.
