You also need the Rims you've bought from me to have something to swap Dave :snigger:

Now for the Tyres :p I was going to go with the Sumitomo HTR Z 111 as they have excellent reviews for the price but after now reviewing the kumho Ecsta LX KU27 they scored better in reviews and are quieter with an 80,000 to 100,000km life span so I think this will be my choice.

Lol nah, photos of the new wheels on the car.
I know it won't be for a bit... I'm just impatient to see!

Still reckon you're gonna have to do something to spruce up the brakes. They're gonna look puny behind them rims.

Hopefully next week they'll be on and I can show you :)

The new wheels are just as open the ones on it now so it shouldn't be an issue.

Dazz@ the kumho's would have been $225 each ( same price as the Sumitomo's ) but unfortunately they're being phased out and there are none available in the country, there are 235's available but I don't want that big.

I'm now getting the "Hankook Ventus S1 Noble 2 H452" the reviews are great and the manager at State West Tyres guaranties they are as good as the kumho's and they're cheaper at $195 each so I'm just waiting on the rims to come in and they should be on by early next week  :happydance:

 :ta: Craig

As we have discussed on here before Hankook and Kumho are sister companies (almost a same factory/different door scenario apparently) although most Tyre companies make some good and some not so good tyres (do they have a similar tread pattern?)

I didn't know that Hankook was a sister company of kumho :goodjob2:, I know that  Sumitomo are sisters with Goodyear.

The new hankooks have a similar comfort tread pattern with the close block spacing and silencer rib

Review here :link: Hankook Ventus S1 Noble2 Tire Review & Rating plenty more about the web all similar rating :)

The silencer seems to be the big innovation these days. Makes you wonder how noisy older generation tyres were under wind whistling  cars of days gone by.

The engines were no where near as quiet as they are now either, you can have a 400kw beast sitting next to you these days that's as quiet as a mouse :)

Hankook and Kumho are like Hyundai and Kia.
And I think Suomitomo came under the Goodyear umbrella when Dunlop did. Suomitomo and Dunlop have been linked for decades. lthough I seem to remember hearing earlier this year there was going to be a split between Goodyear and Sumitomo. I'm not sure how this will affect the Dunlop brand. In Australia I don't see any change but worldwide? Don't know.
Throw in Sava, Olympic (what's left of them), Kelly, and a a range of lesser known brands, all part of the Goodyear family these days.
Then there's Bridgestone/ Firestone etc
Michelin has a heap of "family" brands now too including BF Goodrich.

Plus. most of the major ones have links to factories in China/ Brazil. Phillipines and so on.

All very incestuous.

Yeah Goodyear split in February this year, Dunlop has been there since 1909 and Sumitomo bought into it in 1961 and Goodyear sometime later, don't know why they split though but Sumitomo still remains one of the biggest Japanese rubber companies.

I did like the Sumitomos but their life span was slightly shorter at 60,000 compared with an 80,000 guarantee for the Hankook noble 2's, the price was better too :)

Goodyear will do OK. They have a huge chunk of the airline industry covered. :winker:

i'm curious as to how the equation works out in terms of final cost for you, craigB.
ie:
(new wheels + new tires) - (old wheels + old tires) + fitting/balance = $ ?

but then there's the intangible awesomeness of having black wheels. so tempting...  :sweating:

The new wheels are $919 and tyres $780 balancing and fitting included = $1699 - $450 for the sale of old rims/tyres so it's $1249 all up.

That's not a bad price for premium tires and new wheels I reckon.

Yeah I don't think it's too bad for the OX premiums, there were some eastern states suppliers that wanted $280/$300 each for those rims and that was still cheaper than the identical in G.MAX wanting $500 each, their all cheaper than billet  :)
