Very well said Kylie.
You're right. To continue with a groin injury would be a big mistake.
And if I saw the score correctly, the first set was only 6:4 against Tomic.
No shame in that, even if he was fully fit.

He is a professional tool.....Perhaps one day when he sacks his old man and gets a real coach, and stops playing up in his less than private life he might have a chance at being a professional tennis player....I don't hold much hope.

He remands me more of the Scud than Rafter.....

TBH I reckon he's improving.
Time will tell.

Extreme heat policy came into effect yesterday. Maria Sharapova said there was confusion among the players as to how hot it had to get before the policy was put into place. She won her match. Stosur and Inovanic play today (I think).

Someone cracked a couple eggs in a frypan yesterday and sat the pan on a chair beside the court. Those eggs were sizzling!

I am going to complain to the Open organisers about that girl Safarova's skirt.  It's TOO SHORT!

Dellaqua is through and Stosur is out.

Nadal plays Monfils tonight.

^sad that she lost. Loved the first set, but in the second, she started racing through it. She needs to take her time, pace herself, and she didn't do that. Meant she made a lot of mistakes, and they cost her the match.

Sharapova is out - one scream queen down, one to go, speaking of Azarenka, who won her match today. Watched it with the sound down, of course. I'd smash the TV otherwise. ;)

Nadal has just won his match against Kai Nishikori. Great match, three sets, but a three hour match. Nishikori put up a brilliant fight - Nadal really had to work hard to win this one.

Fed and Rafa playing now. This is the Semi final, winner of this one will play Warinka - or however you say it - in the finals. I am in Rafa's corner all the time, he's up one set and playing well in the second set, although those blisters on his hand look so bloody painful!

Rafa was seriously injured. I think the match would have been tighter had he been in top form.

So many idiots saying that Rafa faked his injury - he doesn't do that. His serves had dropped a good 50ks down to 100, he could barely get the ball over the net. It was obvious he was in pain. Gotta give him credit for continuing, though.

I felt that Stan's attitude left a lot to be desired. He needs to man up, that one. His bad temper will work against him.

Rafa was a class act. He pushed on just to give the crowd a decent showing. He was the real winner in my book.:victory:

Yep. He said at the press conference, I think, that fans had paid money to see a match, and he wanted to give them their monies worth.

Rafael Nadal Press conference after Australian Open 2014 - YouTube

The link should work - goes to his press conference after the match. He looks embarrassed, with his cap pulled low over his eyes. I feel for him. He tried so hard, but it all went against him. Better luck next year! :)
