Is anybody actually watching this?  Apparently some people from somewhere are doing something in Glasgow.

A bit hard not to with Sue in the house.
Swimming (Sue used to be a State swimmer many moons ago) and women's gymnastics (Daughter Megan was a National level gymnast).
Australia is doing well.   :goodjob2:

So, does anybody other than some Australians really care that we are beating the English at some sport only Australia and England play?

Considering we're only 21 Meg people, we're doing ok. Won the Men's marathon and Bronze in the Women's. Swimming bores me, 1 day would be enough.

That's because the USA and China aren't part of the Commonwealth.  It's like Australia winning the World Cup of Australian Rules!!

Scotland are doing well in the medals, swimming, cycling and judo being key for us so far, in judo we have won 13 out of a possible 14 medals :goodjob:

Mrs G watches (former competitor and swim teacher) so I catch some interesting detail. I don't mind seeing Australia better the English anytime. :victory:

This is where it is a bit odd for us Scots, normally I would say much the same, but when it comes to these sports we invariably support the competitors wholly as part of Team GB, we have to keep reminding ourselves to not support them in English guise

What is the population of Scotland bumpkin? i think Australia has about 20.? million
when i was in Texas they told me the population of that state was 20 million, & it's about exact size of the state of NSW.
how much longer does the games go for?

UK, GB, Commonwealth...that's overkill. Commonwealth will do sufficiently for a nation's identity and heritage. :victory:

We have slightly under 5.5 million.

Think the games are two weeks in total?

I must admit that I feel all 'Games(ed)' up.

We had the Olympics, which were fantastic.  Plus all of the other forms of the Olympics.
Then the World Cup - which doesn't interest me in the slightest.
I usually enjoy the 6 Nations Rugby (even though I don't understand it!  :D ).
Cricket bores me to tears - sorry chaps.
I love the F1 season.   :goodjob2:

... and now the Commonwealth Games.  :whistler:  It's an over-kill.

Sorry Scotland, nothing personal intended.

No problem, have a drink on us :drinks:

If it doesn't have four wheels and an engine it leaves me a bit cold too, however I have to admit that unlike our football, our general sporting prowess for such a small nation is quite impressive

Well good on him Trev, the Kenyan's would normally dominate that event.
but you will never see them swimming, do you know why?

Hey Philthy Phil  why didn't you post it up so i know?

One of the reasons I think that the Commonwealth Games has lost its appeal is that the good athletes don't compete.

For example, the fastest man in the world is from the Commonwealth, yet isn't running at the games.  Not worth his while training for this non-event.

There's a whole heap of non-pc answers to that, but I might just leave it alone.  :whistler:
