I just purchased a set of winter wheels, 15" Alloy ET48 6,5J with 195/65x15 tyres and they look larger in diameter comparing to the stock summer wheels 205/55x16 ET50 6,5J. I am now thinking I should resend them and have 185/65x15 fitted instead...

What would you have done?

I would have left them, unless manufacturer says these dimensions are unacceptable.

P.S.: for thew winter wheels I purchased the tires with the same dimensions and the rims are alloy too (meanwhile summer ones are identical to yours too)

Keep the 195 tyres.

195/65-15 is 1937 mm rolling circumference

185/65-15 is 1894 mm

205/55-16 is 1928 mm

As you can see, 195 and 205 are very similar in size.

I have 195/65-15 for summer, and 185/65-15 for winter.

The 195 make the speedometer show more precise than the 185, compared to GPS.

So just get those 195 fitted and the winter can come....

Meehalych: thanks for that tyre calc link, the best I have seen so far :)

Asterix: I am located in Sweden. Yes the 195/65 is the closest match. I am just worried for stone chips as there is a lot of gravel on the roads here during winter. The original mud flaps are not large enough To protect the sides of the car I think...
