GOT PROBLEMS OR ISSUES? => DIESEL => Topic started by: tw2005 on December 18, 2016, 08:30:44

Just wondering if anyone has experience with swapping out clusters on these Diesel i30.
From what I've read it'sa fairly common problem the centre display illumination getts the flickers and eventually fails. My 2010 SLX CW is in that category although my 2008 hatch is fault free.
Not a major issue at the moment but it's one of those constant annoyances as I can't read the display in the daytime as it's lost the daytime intensity level.
Night viewing is ok but it is noticeable that the left side is dimmer.
Going through the catalogs there's numerous part numbers for these.
Obviously I need to stick to Diesel Auto displays but even then there are several.
My 2008 SLX hatch has 940012L226 (11 June - 10 Dec 2008)
2010 SLX CW has 940012L227 ( 10 Dec 2008 - 13 Dec 2010)
A 2008 SX Hatch has 940012L236 (11 Jun 2008 - 10 - dec 2010)
2011 CW SX has 940012L235(13 Dec 2010 - 10 Aug 2012)
No idea what the differences may be but I am wondering about trip computer and speed calibrations like wheel sizes and say a U2 model.
They just list these as suiting all diesel auto on the wrecker sales but I'm wary.
value any input

My instrument cluster display issue was resolved today as the part I ordered arrived from Wills Autos, a Hyundai specialist.
Got really lucky and got an exact replacement 940012L227 for my 2010 Auto CRDi SLX CW.
Unit had only 42000k and perfect. Swapped the eeprom off my old cluster circuit board and that then corrected the odometer deficiency as I had over 176 000K.

Great news! :happydance:

 Tell the truth... it's an ex-taxi that's done 1,176,000 Km :whistler:
Sorry G. :D

I think I still have an ancient EEPROM programmer of you want to 'wind your clock back'. :whistler:

Jeez, not THAT ancient. This one deciphers 1s and 0s, not hieroglyphics! :crazy1:

darn cluster in the CW is flickering again. Quite incredible given my Hatch is still good and this one was low k.
very disappointing. maybe time to look closer at them and see if the LEDs can be replaced, that's what i suspect is the issue.

I'd be looking at a more collective cause, such as dry joints at the connectors.

Last one I looked I found nothing like that but it may be at he LED end or simply could be like all the LED TVS that burn theirs out

I'm with the Wing Comrade. I'm still to see a failed cluster, yet you have them reoccurring.
