The second-generation i30 was launched in Australia in May, but sales are down seven per cent year to date, no doubt due to the demise of the previously popular wagon variant.

Not good news, but not totally unexpected.... :undecided:

Nice find Jamie :goodjob:

Down 7% is not bad as I think the CW represented 20% of i30 sales...

Good find, Jamie.
I quite like the look of it actually but Australia is not a big buyer of three door cars, gernerally speaking.

Thanks db08 correct we don't buy many 3 door cars these days i must say after owning a few of 3 and 5 door cars over the years the practicality of a 5 door is great.

Cheers Jamie

I wonder how many people would choose the i30 3 door over the veloster to get cheaper insurance. Not that the car would come to Canada, but if it did...i wonder. Insurance is pretty expensive here, can easily be $2000 a year.

Of course the i30 doesn't look as sporty, but I wonder if it would pull customers away from the veloster, especially if it ends up having the same engine!

It would depend on pricing and equipment levels etc...I would probably go the 3 door i30 over the Veloster, everything else being equal (the Veloster is a bit ugly from some angles)  :undecided:

Agree with Dazz.

. The 3 door i30 looks a lot better than the Veloster.

I'm also done with 3 door cars. 4 or 5 doors for me, thanks.

Well for me the Veloster isn't ugly...just a little strange/weird and VERY unique. If the 3 door i30 was cheaper I bet I would go with that as it seems being an i30 it would have (hopefully) more practicality than a sporty car. If however its the cool, new, unique, then for sure the Veloster.

However, having been in 4 door cars all my life, the first thing I thought of when I sat in the back seat on the driver's side on the Veloster was how I would be screwed trying to get out in an accident with the lack of a door. At least there was a door on the other side...the i30..i would be doubly screwed. However, that is just a psychological thing that many other people don't seem to have.

Even though the 3rd door looks like a good size in the Veloster it is still a squeeze to get in, I found and I'm only around 175cm tall (but a bit solid)  :winker:

Can you see over the dash, Daz?  :whistler:

I sat in a Turbo Veloster yesterday and found the headroom pretty ordinary.....and this was in the front!
My head was brushing the roof between the door and the sunroof.... :fum:
