300Nm out of the little 1.6ltr, now that I like!
Would love to know what they change in tune to get the increase over the 260Nm version.

But only 280Nm with the manual....  :(

Turbo and ECU

The new turbo 1.6 petrol will also be 137kw - 183hp so I'm disappointed they're not putting in the same 150kw 1.6 from the Veloster :disapp:

And transmission, the 7 speed duel clutch auto will handle a bit more me thinks....

Exactly.! Why won't Hyundai match the competitors in the C-segment: (all 1,6 diesel)

Opel Astra 1,6 CDTI: 136 HP/320 Nm
Suzuki S-cross 1,6 DDiS: 120 HP/320 Nm
Honda Civic i-DTEC: 120 HP/300 Nm
Peugeot 308 e-HDi: 120 HP/300 Nm

And then there's those who offers a real engine:

Ford Focus 2,0 TDCI 150HP/370 Nm
Skoda Octavia 2,0 TDI 150 HP/320 Nm
VW Golf 2,0 TDI 150 HP/320 Nm
Mazda 3 2,2 Skyactiv-D 150HP/380 Nm
Peugeot 308 e-HDi 2,0: 150HP/370 Nm

Hyundai have the 1,7 CRDi in the i40 with 136 HP/325 Nm. Can't that be used in the i30..

But will the new i30 diesel manual transmission equipped with 7 gears aswell? Since I drive a long way to work and it's on highway and I really think i30 needs another gear since it has a bit lower shift ratio.  :)

No, the manuel gearbox is a 6-speed, but if I remember correct the revs in 6th gear was about 1400 when doing 80 km/h.

My old FD 5-speed does about 1800 revs @ 80 km/h.

This update has turned put to be disappointing. The front end is a bit meh.
And come on again the premium model is auto only!
I think i'll be owning base model cars the rest of my life!

Am I the only one that actually loves driving manual?

April 1. was the D day for new I30s here. They are slowly but surely multiplying on car sites. So far only two diesels and loads of entry petrols. No turbo in sights so far :P

No Petrol Turbo for us either..  :Pout:

In essence, the i30 five-door hatch Series II is about a new optional seven-speed dual-clutch transmission mated to an uprated turbo-diesel engine, petrol engine updates to meet the latest Euro5 emissions standards, cosmetic styling upgrades, and a notable upping of value and slicing of pricing. A rear-view reversing camera (which combines with four-sensor rear parking assist) is now standard.

The bolder new grille makes a more obvious link with the new Sonata and Genesis sedans.

A revamped Tourer (wagon) version of the i30 will also go on sale soon.

The three powertrains in the i30 line-up – 1.8- and 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol, and a 1.6 turbo diesel four – all have received attention for this upgrade.

The five model variants are: entry Active, new ActiveX, SR (which replaces the now benched Elite name), SR Premium and Premium.

Yeah, mine has too many kms now to trade it.
But even my mechanic commented on Wednesday when he serviced it that it's running beautifully.
Better than when new - just coming into its own, I reckon.

Not true, Mitsubishi - Mazda - Suzuki - Holden - Ford - Alfa Romeo - Fiat - Mercedes's - BMW all sell very well here with their 2/3dr vehicles here, the only thing that held back the Hyundai i30 version was it was under powered for it's size ( something I'll fix when out of warranty :D )

:Jaw: 8.8L/100Km........ I was getting beter (mileage 7.5 - 8.0) in my 9-year old Dodge Caliber, also 1.8 and 120Kg heavier. Unless the "prevailing speed limits" are 150+ kph or under 30 kph then that is terrible.

Oh, that's not very nice, Rusty.
Although, having not driven one before I got this, I do wonder how so many people in England get around.
It is so slow!
I thought the turbo must be asleep but apparently not.
I do like Discos though.
Especially the early 3 doors.
I can't help thinking that 4.4 P76 V8 in the engine bay would liven things up a bit.  :D

Some of the models don't have a 2014 - 2015 version but did previously and there is talk of some releasing 2/3 door hatches later this year and next, I did think the Holden Spark was a 3 dr but realised it was a hidden rear door like the Veloster.
There are rumors of a new Swift 3dr but depending on our $ will be the ultimate decider if we get it, there was supposed to be a 3dr Cruze but the idea was canned because of the Astra development.

I've placed some current and very soon to be released 3 dr's below, notice Holdens new Astra due this month

None of those are likely to be big sellers and putting an SUV into the collection is drawing a big bow...lol

The fact that many of the manufacturers that once had 3 door hatches in their line up but have now dropped them would suggest to me that they weren't particularly good sellers...  ;)

Another one....They love the 7 speed diesel......The lack of new stuff not so much. Shame I can't convince the good wife that we don't need a slightly larger car than her hatch....

But I have not know a car maker yet to throw money into both engine/transmission and new body/interior on an update car.

The 7 speed on the diesel is no doubt a small introduction to see how it goes pending further implementation in the fleet.

None of those are likely to be big sellers and putting an SUV into the collection is drawing a big bow...lol

The fact that many of the manufacturers that once had 3 door hatches in their line up but have now dropped them would suggest to me that they weren't particularly good sellers...  ;)
Not big sellers aye! must be some reason they have been consecutively sold for years now, the Astra was so popular that Holden have brought it back in under the Holden badge rather than Opel.
The SUV is still a 3dr and no bigger than the i30 except for the taller suspension, the Swift will release in 3dr again when the $ turns good as will the i20 and i30 3dr's.

If you lived in the inner city regions you would see how popular 3dr's are.

Your idea of what are popular obviously differ from me, Craig....

Opel were hardly a big seller in the short time they were in Aus....in fact they sold less than 1600 units and poor sales was the reason for them pulling the pin...
How many of those were even 3 door hatches?  :undecided:
