Wow - quite surprised to see Hyundai drop so far down the list on the US Vehicle Dependability survey for 2014:

I'm unable to see the study to decide what they are on about. But I do recall the german study where it ranked trivial complaints such as flat battery the same a major issues such as total engine failure. You might expect there to be some weighting involved so that one can identify the grumbles (can't turn the welcome chimes off) from the serious issues such as Toyota's not stopping for example.

another case of a "survey" being twisted to project a misleading impression...

notice how they classify the "lack of power" of 4 cylinder engines as a "dependability problem" in a market that used to be swamped by gargantuan V6 and V8's..

yeah, but I think all things are equal for all brands in this list but unfortunately, HY doesn't end up much better than VW and consistently outgunned by Japanese brands year after year.  I actually thought (hopeful) that HY would have blasted up the charts in the latest results  :-[

I think we should assess Hyundai by the posts on this forum instead, as most of us have them, and post problems we have.
I bought mine after reading most of the posts on here, The lack of serious problem posts resulted in me buying two. :goodjob2:

The i30 seems one of their best models year on year.

I think the quality issues are party related to growing pains...

Infrastructure and QC struggling to keep up with the solid sales growth..

They seem a bit slow to respond to the problems so far though!  :undecided:
