Petrol
1.33 GBP.  2.10 USD. 1.60 Euro. 1.95 AUD

Diesel

GBP = British pounds

Biggest issue here is the level of duty & then Tax on every litre.

The government make more per litre than the oil companies... Cant be right...

On the news the other night they said wholesale gas price for gas from mainland europe to the UK had increased due to increase in demand due to the freezing weather we are having here at the moment.

I'm now wondering, as energy companies have indicated they are not making the same £££ level of profit due to the mild weather we have had prior to last weekend, are we being informed in a "nice gentle way" that gas prices are due to be raised soon....

Quite possible as Russia has reduced its exported Gas volumes by, I thinl, 10% due to the severe winter there & the need for it to be used to keep Russians warm...

Did you pay 1.389 or 1.399? - I have not recently seen fuel prices restricted to 3 decimal places.

Diesel seems to be sitting around the 148.9 mark where I am.

As for the LPG my wives car uses, it has shot up from .589 to .799.

Seems the Government needed more tax dollars for a certain black hole, so they have hit LPG. Can't wait for the green tax to hit and make it even more expensive to go to work.....

Makes sense (not) since given they have been rebating the retrofitting of LPG to cars and paying big dollars to Ford to upgrade their LPG system.

We can blame Little Johnny Howard for that, it was his idea..... :fum:

And it's only gonna get more costly as it will be increasing every July for the next few years....

I compared the prices over here too.. Yesterday the prices have reached new record and it's like this:

6.3.2012:
Diesel - 1.343 EUR/lit (=1.12 GBP = 1.66 AUD)
Petrol 95 - 1.463 EUR/lit (= 1.22 GBP = 1.81 AUD)

And now let's compare the prices with the prices in the past (only comparing the Diesel):
1.) 20.1.2004  0.684 EUR/lit
2.) 30.1.2007  0.887 EUR/lit (+ 29.6 %)
3.) 6.3.2012  1.343 EUR/lit (+ 96.3 %)

I do approx 4.000 km/month with average fuel consumpt. 6.5 lit /100  km  260 lit / month

Now let's calculate, how much (monthly) it costs me today and how much it cost me few years ago (in 2007 and in 2004) - if we say the fuel consumption was the same and I did the same amount of kilometers.

1.)   260 lit × 0.684 = 177.84 EUR / month
2.)   260 lit × 0.887 = 230.62 EUR / month
3.)   260 lit × 1.343 = 349.18 EUR / month

- Today I spend 349.18 EUR every moth (= 290.73 GBP = 433.61 AUD) for fuel (diesel).
- In 2007 (30.1.) I spent 230.62 EUR (= 192.01 GBP = 286.38 AUD) for the same amount of diesel.
- In 2004 (20.1.) I spent 177.84 EUR (= 148.07 GBP = 220.84 AUD) for the same amount of diesel.

I've been working in the same company from 2007 and I must tell you, that my salary is about the same as it was back then. Actually, NO. I get approx 8-10% less, but I pay around 40-50% more for the fuel, then I did in the 2007. I must say the difference is HUGE. If only the wages went up, but at this point I must be happy to have work

I wont write about my salary, but average salary in Slovenia is around 1.000 EUR "nett" (= 832,60 GBP = 1.241 AUD), but unfortunately I don't get that much.

Anyways.. I'm not complaining, but yesterday I did the same calculation and came to conclusion, that I should try to drive less   :blubber:

Huh a lot of text again
