  • Sorry, but my karma just ran over your dogma.
I brought a set of seat covers before Christmas and finally got around to fitting them yesterday.

I found them impossible to fit without removing the front seats. Fortunately, this didn't prove very difficult. I was amazed at how well built the seats and and how heavy, to.

Hey Agentr. Impossible to fit without pulling the seats out. My covers have three sets of ties that have to be fastened together. The only way to do it is by knoting them under the seat. There is no way to get your hands under the seats to tie the knots, so that's why the seats had to be removed.

Are there any issues with the side air bags - I would be nervous about removing the seat in fear of a nasty surprise.

Are you not a bit disappointed that you can't tell you have seat covers on - rather spoils the pleasure of spending money if you can't see the result............ :whistler:

No airbag issues, Alan.

Once the four floor bolts are removed, it's a simple matter of tilting the seat towards the back of the car and uncliping the electrical connectors. There are two connectors on the driver's side and three on the passenger's side.

x2  :D  Takes a bit of work but far less of a hassle than removing the seat. If you can get to it...

My seat covers must be quite different from yours Hati and agentr.

The backs of the seats were no problem, but the covers for the seats were IMPOSSIBLE to fit without pulling the seats out.

The tie cords on my seat covers were just too short to tie securely and with enough tension. Once the seats were removed, it was absolutely no trouble.  One other problem was trying to feed the tie down between the moulded frame (nearest the door) of the seat.

By the way, I have run the ties above the seat sliders and all of the frames holding the seat electrical connectors so there is no way of the ties snagging.

One or more of these connections depending on car model and options added :-

Side airbag connection
Pressure detector to tell the seat belt alarm whether the seat is occupied.
Electrically adjustable seat
Seat heater

Hi kittycat.
There are electrical connections under the front seats for the airbags and seatbelt warnings.

Although difficult I managed to put our recycled Lambswool seat covers on Trish's CW without pulling the seats out (and my hands are average sized)  :D But you are fairly thorough Terry  :goodjob:
