I started noticing a strange low speed clutch noise and vibration through the clutch over the last few days. It usually happens when at a standstill, you take off and just as the clutch engages at low revs, the noise appears. It makes a loud tapping (loud enough for a passenger to hear) and a strange vibration through the clutch pedal.

I'm thinking it may be a gearbox issue as when it gets close to the friction point, it feels like the whole gearbox may be moving, like on the point of a stall...

Any ideas, or similar issues?

pressure plate failure,thrust bearing or spigot bearing could also cause this. take it back to the dealers,5 year warranty will help the problem.

Yeah, will be taking it down soon. I don't want the i30 to be broken!!

BTW, car didn't start yesterday... Battery went flat...

They aren't bad problems, car is still driveable, but I hope nothing else goes wrong either. I do drive a lot of kms, already up to 30,000km after 11 months!
