Some interesting results here. The test day was conducted at Sydney Motorsport Park at Eastern Creek.
The Volvos were out there and looking good.
Probably the most significant thing was the times posted by the Nissans.
2nd, 3rd, 8th and 10th.
The Mercs will only run two cars this year.

As Rusty says, this is for 2015 but I'm sure they'll all be live, otherwise they'd never have won the contract back from Channel 7. The V8 Supercars people are pretty marketing savvy.

Although, maybe in those States where they follow AFL - who knows?

Yep, I had to edit the cells manually (it looks really good in our Curve theme!).

I'll see if there's a better way to get the data organised within a post.

One of the Volvos is on the FRONT ROW for its first outing.
Its powerplant is a Volvo 4.4 L upgraded to the required 5.0 L.

And a new driver in the Mercedes (Erebus) team has helped lift their qualifying perfomances.

I'm a big fan of all of the manufacturers being represented in the top ten.  It can only be good for the sport!!  Even Craig Lowndes seemed genuinely pleased that he was sharing the front row with a Volvo!!   

I do like some of the livery this year on some of the teams.  In particular the Holden Racing Team and the Volvo!!

Some good racing today.
Red Bull go on their winning way, split in race two by the Volvo of 20 y/o Scott McLaughlin in only his second season and in a car having it's first race outing.

The young guy was so excited he even managed to drop the "F" word in his post race, live TV interview. 
All 5 manufacturers finished in the top 10 in race two and all feature in the top 10 drivers' pointcore after 2 races.
Bodes well for the year ahead.

Another interesting point was how "unhappy" Jamie Whincup was. No doubt he was shitty at himself for sliding wide on the last corner but it's the first time I've seen him display a bit of peevishness in an interview.

This crash involving Jason Bright brought back memories of Craig Lowndes big one at Calder many years ago - although not nearly as serious.

I always liked how the first responders were several of his fellow drivers who knew how serious it was.
I think he just injured a knee.

It was a great couple of days this weekend at the Clipsal with some very exciting racing. Hi to everyone who dropped in to the Air Force marquis and had a chat. The big surprise for me was how entertaining Empire of the Sun were last night. Despite wearing earplugs at all critical times my ears are still ringing.
