Driving along to work this morning at 100km, I thought something had hit my car...only to find that the rubber seal (?) has become detached from the body of the car.  Don't know exactly what it is known as (see picture).

I didn't have a chance to have a proper look when I parked, but wondering what could have possibly caused this?  I had my car in for repairs a week ago but the damage was front end (bonnet replaced), so really they repairer should not even have been in that area.

From a quick look, it does look as though I can bang it back in.

Your thoughts?

(sorry the pic is small...hope you can enlarge somehow)

Trim may have been removed for bonnet replacement. Depends on installer. It should knock back in if clips are all intact.

Just went out for a walk now and somehow the whole thing ended up beside my car...lucky no one took it and yes, banged it back into place.  Better stay put now!
