Hi Everyone,

Trish and I did a drive yesterday to Boat Harbour & Stanley (hour and a half west of Devonport)

Was sunny in Devonport but very patchy (wet and windy) further west, which is pretty normal...

Hope you enjoy the video (we were fairly happy with the finished product)  :D

Another fine production, Daz..... :hatoff:

I liked some of your "creative" driving so we got to enjoy some of the views....

Oh, and did you realise you failed to stop at the stop sign outside the Motel in Stanley?  :whistler:

How to see Tassie from a few 1,000 miles away without leaving your armchair.

Just 1 question.

Re single continuous white line.

I take it that is to signify a hazard, such as bend, but can you cross to overtake or does it take on the significance of a double white line?

Means the same as double white line (as I understand it) I don't read books without pictures ..that includes the road rules manual... :-[

The road rule book has pictures, Daz, just not the sort of pictures you're used to looking at..... :winker:

Anyhow, there is no overtaking allowed on a single continuous white line.....but, you are allowed to cross it to enter or leave a road.  :)

Nice video. I just can't imagine I had to drive on the that (wrong) side of the road

Anyway, what is that on the hill at 4:41 and on. Are there ski lifts?

They are the chair lifts I mentioned in the Video. You can walk to the top (quite a climb) but it is easier to take the chairlift when it is not windy  and walk down  :goodjob:

Hey Steve.. I love the sign...

In UK we do not have continuous single white lines it has to be a double continuous white line to prevent you crossing it.

A lilttle known rules re double white line which people fail to grasp is you can actually overtake so long as you DO NOT cross the double white line and venture onto the other side of the road.

I've been behind many a driver on a small country lane who have been travelling at 5 mph because of a push bike in front of them.  There was plenty of room to pass and still stay on your side of the road!!!

Superb video Dazz, it is pretty cool for me to recognise some of your outcrops such as The Nut from FSX :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

Kim and I both think that some of your scenery looks a bit Scottish, perhaps a little less undulating though.

It actually occurred to me as you were driving through Stanley that it looked a bit like it's namesake on the Falkland Islands, very similar building style.

As an aside we were in a place called Stanley yesterday visiting a cotton mill which was closed down in 1995 and now is owned by Historic Scotland, watch my random thread for those stills once I have sorted them out :winker:

I checked the UK rules, rule 129 in particular and it appears you're also allowed to cross double lines (providing the road is clear), to pass a stationary vehicle, to overtake a pedal cycle, horse or road maintenance vehicle if they are travelling at 10mph or less.
