Title: Couldn't let the wife miss out - New Kona in the family.
Post by: Dazzler on May 23, 2019, 11:23:18
Just taken delivery of a white Active Kona with 1.6 turbo and AWD for the wife (replacing her 2014 Manual Petrol Tourer)

My new Hybrid is probably still 3 months away.  :Pout:

Wife and I are both pretty happy with it so far. It was a MY19 Demo with under 400 kilometres on the clock.

Just as zippy as my 2017 SR but quieter and with a better ride (less harsh) due to 55 series tyres Versus the 40 series on the SR.

Biggest negative I can think of is no Active Cruise control which would probably exclude it as our main Road Trip vehicle.

Krell speakers means the stereo is clearer than my first generation PD SR (not sure how it compares with infinity system)

DCT may have had another tweak in the Kona too as seems even more seamless in changes than my SR.

Wife is very happy so far as she found the 1.6 litre Tourer a bit sluggish after her previous 2.0 CW.

A few photos of her before any mods. She's already had tint done, we have a personalised plate for Trish on order and we may end up changing the wheels or colour of the wheels, putting a black gloss wrap on the roof and Trish has an "interesting" decal to go on the side..  :whistler:

Cheers Craig. Those photos were actually taken a week before we went in to negotiate. I took them and a few others to send to Trish and she said "nice" but didn't think I was serious!  :crazy1:

Happy wife happy life  :victory:
Exactly!  :happydance:

Thanks Craig, bit of a bonus. With the Kona being a bit quieter and the stereo being louder and clearer it is a quite noticeable improvement over my SR. Trish tends to listen to music in the car more than me.  :goodjob:

Cheers Scott. I think the styling has grown on a lot of people including Trish and I. I think a lot of people thought WTF when it first came out (including me) but now I think it looks quite Funky.

I like it best in that Acid Yellow (light green) colour with the interior highlihts but fortunately for me Trish hates that colour which is only available in the higher models. :sweating:

Yes John, When we did a run to deloraine and back on the day we got it (about 120 kilometres including a bit of town driving) it was showing 6.6 L/100 kms (Official ADR combined is 6.7)

We did roughly half each and i'm a faster driver than Trish on the highway. I usually sit on 114 she sits on around 105, so I reckon she should average 6.7 or lower when she's using it exclusively. Pretty good considering the performance!  :victory:

Hi Dazzler,

lol - My wife just took delivery of a 1.6 Premium GT (Pulse Red) here in the UK.

Couple of things:

First there appears to be a piece of trim missing when you open the drivers door and look down the side of the seat you can see a small black cage with holes in it, is yours the same or is the trim to cover that missing.

Second, have you got a moulded under tray under the boot floor.

Don't get to drive Trish's Kona very often at all. Took it down for it's 12 month/ 10,000 km service this morning - so lively I thought it was in Sport! It's done 7300 kilometres now.

They've lent us a 2.0 Kona Hylander in Acid Yellow which I love but Trish hates (the colour that is)

I like the fact that it has automated cruise and heads up display and keyless entry etc.. but we wouldn't swap it for Trish's Active just so much more fun to drive.

Forgot to say in orig post.
Acid Yellow = vomit bile .
Head up display - Anita's has it - still need to look down to see it - kept fully retracted all the time.
2.0 feels bit slooow compared to 1.6T.
