Title: Bike trolleys.
Post by: mickd on March 31, 2020, 07:39:48
With 2 cars,  a kayak, storage cupboards, benchs, built-in shelving  and 5 bikes in the garage,  things are getting a tad squeezy.
Decided to make a cross between a bike lifter and a trolley  ( 4 of them should do the trick 😀). Prototype completed using 4 swivel wheels -2 with brakes, 12mm plywood base with 90x35 center piece as stiffening.  Designed frame and had 2 made up . Altered front clamp thiis morning to allow more wheel into the recess, then discovered my Bandit has a 10mm wider front wheel 😮. So redesign again allowing for 12mm insert when the G's are on board making tyre a nice tight fit. One side of recess can be removed allowing 1 or both wheels to be removed,  once on  centre stand, and bike can still be moved around the garage. Raises  bike by approx 140mm, not a lot will make life easier.  With these I can move 3 into the space between cars and at back of 1 and have room to work on other 2 without moving cars out.  Will also be able to turn  a bike  around easy. Hopefully drill holes in frames tomorrow

Just so happens a guy a few doors up has a 1200 with carb trouble.  If I  run out of projects,  I might bring it down and have a squizz..... :whistler:

I knew there was method in your madness.

My restorer mate you know of,  scored ( free) a hospital operating table with electric lift, tilt etc plus theater lights. Has converted it to a bike work bench.

Okay , wheels back on after greasing them properly.
Ramp thought up, designed, created.
Longer than original, has horizontal section  just prior to meeting ramp, has spacer fitting snug against steel frame and bottom of ply with holes for drop bolts to ensure ramp cannot move at all.
Brain is knackered,  but I am happy.
Just need to cut off excess bolt threads and all done.
Then just make No2 trolley.  :goodjob:
