Yes, yes, yes... I know this topic has been covered in other threads, but I'm so proud of myself, I thought I'd start a new one

I had already run the power cable up behind the dashboard and drilled a small hole in the cubby hole to feed the cord into the cubby hole compartment.

This is what I did.

1. Went  to my local glass supplier and had him cut a circular piece of glass slightly larger than the suction cup of my GPS. (Grand sum of $5.)
2. Remove the rubber molding inside the cubby hole.
3. Center the circular piece of glass on rubber and cut out around the glass with a razor blade.
4. Fit rubber molding back into cubby hole.
5. Fit some high quality 3m double sided tape to one side of the circular piece of glass and trim.
6. Peel off backing of double sided tape and stick the glass circle in the cubby hole, lining it up with the hole cut in the rubber molding.

I'm very happy wit the end result.....

:goodjob: UM! does the GPS fold down when you close the cubbyhole's lid?

Unfortunately not jabber. I simply unsuction (is that a word ) the suction cup from the glass circle and place the GPS and bracket in the glove box when I'm away from the vehicle. I can close the lid then and the power lead is not visible from outside the vehicle.

I was always thinking if anyone can do this for my GPS(5") and fold down when closing cubby's lid  :undecided:. Any good idea ?
If this way is not available yet, Ugly Mongrel's method is still not bad.  :goodjob:

Thanks Alasama. I really think we will never solve the problem of being able to fold a GPS down when the lid shuts as the cavity is just too small for a GPS, a mounting bracket and a cable.

It only takes me a couple of seconds to disconnect the bracket and place it all in the glove box for security. It also takes only a few seconds to put it back in place, just as long as it took me to get it on and off the windscreen.

One thing I like about my method is no more grubby marks on the windscreen from the suction cup and my fingers.

.. and just to rub it in, Asa, I think I'll do something similar to my cubby hole with my Navman, when the weather improves slightly.
