I have been a long time user of RainX windscreen water repellent - I first discovered it when I lived in the USA for a while 15 years ago and I started to use it again when it found its way to the UK a few years later.

We are off to Yorkshire for 8 days today and the weather is awful - very heavy continuous rain which is forecast for the next 5 days.

Between heavy rain showers yesterday i managed to give the screen a fresh coating and will take the bottle with me to give the screen another coat next week - if required.

Do other members use this stuff or its equivalent?

I seem to remember Bumpkin being a fan of it. I have never tried it.. We don't get huge amounts of rain here  :winker:

I use it occasionally....... :goodjob:

I used "Mr Sheen" on my helmet visor for many years as it worked much like RainX in that water beaded and ran off easily and was cheaper.  :)

Oh, and Daz, RainX works with light rain too...... :winker:

I will try it at some stage but the Hybrid's wipers work well and are not noisy...

Try a potato, cut it and rub on the windshield, the starch will have the same effect as RainX. Wont last as long, several weeks depending on the amount of rain, can be applied in the rain.
The big plus is if you get stranded, you can cook whats left  :snigger:

I thought potatoes were supposed to be placed carefully in your speedo to impress the girls.
I never thought of using one on my car's windscreen.  :)

Will you please advise how I dismantle the front of the speedometer to insert a potato - and be quick about it - time is not on my side............

Tried that once - got some funny giggles from those behind me. Maybe I positioned them incorrectly  :undecided:

Don,

That's the correct way, the tomato sauce is a mild acid and will help clean the surface

Hi Alan

I use the equivalent of RainX which can sometimes be found in Lidl.  It comes as a pack containing a spray bottle of the solution, a cloth for applying it and a microfibre cloth for buffing, all for less than a blue drinking voucher! :winker:

They don't always have it and I tend to watch out for it and buy a couple.  I find it lasts much longer than RainX, three applications a year tends to do it for me.  I also use it on the side windows, rear screen and headlamp/tail lamp lenses. :goodjob:

If it's Lidl, why don't you buy a Bign. It'll last longer. :happydance:
