Hi guys, I have a 2.0 2012 Hyundai i30 and its central lock wont work anymore, the boot only open when you turn on the ignition. the AirCon turns on automatically when you turn on the ignition, regardless. and the courtesy lights wont turn on at all. When all doors are closed, the door indicator in the dash still indicates that the doors are open.

All these problems started at once.

please help, I am loosing my mind.   :-[

Are you sure all the doors are properly closed and there is not a seatbelt or something preventing it from closing correctly.

Disconnect the negative lead from your battery for about 30 minutes. Sometimes this resets the controllers. Reconnact and see if all is fixed.

Welcome Tobie... If reset doesn't fix it, I wonder if a wire might have got pinched somewhere and shorting on the body.  :undecided:

Welcome tobie.

Very interesting symptoms you have there. Unfortunately I can't think of anything to try.
Man I wish I could get my hands on your I30. Jobs like that get me going.

  • Trust nobody with nowt to lose
Try disconnecting both -ve & +ve terminals from battery, then link the two loose terminals.
Remove the link then reconnect both terminals to battery.

If there's a door switch not operating correct, then it will light up the indicator in the dash.

If the central locking system detect a door not locked, because of the above mentioned, it wont lock the doors.

Do the interior lights work when you open/close the doors...

Do the boot light work when you open/close the hatch...

I think one of the door switches are the bugger, try to check. (remember the bonnet switch)

I think the courtesy lights are also collateral damage.

regarding the a/c turning on. Someone here mentioned a long time ago that it could be programmed to allways start with a/c on, simply by pressing some bottons in a specific order.

I recently acquired my car, a 2009, and experienced very similar problems:

1. Showing boot open at all times.
2. Unable to lock using remote lock.
3. Central locking seemed to work when using the lock switch on the driver's door.
4. Courtesy lights inside the cab and boot were all failing.
5. Could not open boot unless key was in the ignition and on.

This had all occurred after the garage changed the driver's door lock actuator. No matter what, they could not get it to work.

However, the problem was a little deceptive. The fuse that feeds the courtesy lights was the problem; I changed this for a known working one (from the cigarette lighter) and the faults all disappeared. The fuse is referenced in the manual (secn 7 pg 58) and on the guide in the compartment (RHS of dash) as ROOM LP.

This also forms the top half of the "Memory Fuse" (manual secn 7 pg 55); mine appears to have blown as a result of their work changing the door lock.

I suspect that the remote locking takes its power through the same circuit; however, I don't have any circuit diagrams and I cannot confirm this.

Please let us know if this helps; I am not sure if your model will necessarily have the same circuitry, but it is worth a shot.
