- I had planned on washing the car this weekend but the weather isn't the greatest and with my luck it will rain the second I finish polishing it
Rain is not the worsest thing though - the birds are

Cool ship in particular and a photo in overall!

Plus hailstones.

Very nice photo of the RORO (Roll On Roll Off) coming into port.   :goodjob:  We used to see many of these plying their trade on the open ocean, heading to and from their makers and markets.  There were quite a few in the Gulf of Aden (heading to and from the Suez Canal) with European cars going one way, and Asian cars the other.

Ouch! Yes...luckily we get it infrequently down here at the coast. Up north they have big ones approaching the size of baseballs that spell disaster :scared:

+ A black i30 went past me the other day and I got a thumbs up from the guy...he seemed friendly

Sadly that is the only highlight of the last few days, but thankfully no bad news to report :goodjob2:

Yes, not nice, more northerly parts of Australia (Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane etc..) have had 1000s of cars ruined by hail.. :fum:

That's always nice to see...

I think I cursed myself by saying that I had no bad news to report yesterday

Not 10 minutes after I posted that, my boss phoned and asked me to deliver a flash drive to our techie in Umtata, around 500km there and 500km back. I left PE at around 18:00 local time, got to Umtata at midnight and got back around 5:30 this morning. I had the day off so I washed the car, but as it always goes, we are flooding out amongst torrential rain, so all my washing was in vain :blubber:

On the plus side, I can apparently make it rain on command

They needed it there before 03:00 this morning, and the cheapest courier wanted close to double what they are paying me in mileage and overtime, so I volunteered :)

By the time I had fallen asleep I had been awake for about 24 hours, so I was pretty tired and my muscles were all sore from being tensed up throughout the whole drive. But it was an interesting experience, I wouldn't do it again too soon but I enjoyed it...it was something different :)

+ my trip to Prague will begin in 6 hours
- the night would be sleepless as well as the forthcoming day - my flight departs at 4am (from Saint-Petersburg to Moscow and then to Prague)
(For info: a local chain of shops celebrates its anniversary and sells items with discounts, so the coffee machine which I bought - Delongi 3000B - is worth 242 Euro roughly, so if anyone wants it, I can buy one and send it by mail)

As usual, I was planning on washing my car and it rained. I guess I'll put it off for another month or three

+Well I kissed my newish welding helmet today. Had a cutoff wheel explode on me (helmet has grinding setting) and a piece hit my helmet with enough force to knock it right off my head. And I'd just tightened it :)
-Caught another bit on my forearm. Don't care about my arm but got a small cut across the "S" in my daughters name tattoo :( should heal fine though.

Yikes, I've got one of those.

Glad you're basically OK. How was the helmet struck, didn't the guard protect you properly

Geeez , I have always used mine with just safety glasses .  Will use my welding helmet in future. Glad you are alright. The disc wasn't well worn down was it ?

I was cutting the hub plates off a Veloster Turbo rear torsion axle to use on the Accent. Couple of awkward angles getting around coil buckets and caliper mounts. Disc was barely 1/4 worn but I think it just got in at a bad angle.
Can't say how it hit the helmet but it held up pretty good. Scratches where disc hit just below the lens and where it hit the concrete.

Just below the lens, means just below the eye, you are a very lucky man indeed.

A lesson for all of us, I reckon. I've had a 4" one break up but not fly apart.
