It’s not exactly swift to 62mph at 11.5 seconds (although it feels better up to 40mph, which is where most driving is done) and although it’s very happy at motorway speeds – albeit with a bit of wind noise – its long gearing does mean a change down if you want to recover in a decent time frame after being baulked.
This really supports my long held belief that having a 6 speed gearbox is a bit of overkill and more a "fashion" statement, especially with the gobs of torque the little diesel produces.....
To me the 5 speeder is more than adequate for Aussie speed limits, giving better acceleration when overtaking at our low highway speeds without the need to change down a gear....
As for fuel economy, I'm happy to sacrifice the bees dick difference between the 2 for better driveability......
