DIESEL / Windscreen not clearing
« Last post by GCC2024 7 hours ago »
Hello everyone, I have a new issue with my 2009 i30 crdi. Last week I was driving on a motorway on a wet day and needed to demist the windscreen and windows so I turned on the blower as normal but instead of clearing the screen it misted up even more. Thankfully I had a towel in the car so was able to wipe the screen instead but I was concentrating so much on keeping the screen clear that I didn’t take note if the blower was warm or not. There was also a strange smell, unfamiliar, not sure if it was anti freeze smell or something else quite sickly. The inside of the screen was getting “oily” but that could have been from the dirty towel I was using. At home I checked the water level in the reservoir and it was empty. I topped it up but a week later it has gone down again and today there was smoke or mist coming out of the blower vents- never seen that before. And the screen still won’t clear, either with AC or not. Do any of you wonderful experts have any ideas please ? Thank you very much

Thank you. Any ideas where I should start to find the problem spot and try to fix it?

Hello and welcome.
I agree it looks like a loose connection. Bear in mind that it may not always be the 12V supply. It can also be a poor connection to the body as the return path for the circuit.

Hi guys,

I am having an issue with the audio in my car.

about 2 to 5 times per song there is a tiny audio stutter that is really ruining my vibes of listening to music in the car.

I am using android auto and a google pixel 6 connected via a usb cable streaming music with spotify.

I've updated the head unit to the latest version and tried quite a few things to try and remedy this issue such as changing battery optimization and a few developer options in the phone that I found on another forum. I've tried a couple of different usb cables.

Ive tired all the stuff in this thread :link: Bluetooth skip and stutter except for changing the quality of the audio stream in spotify ( gonna try this tomorrow ).

I am guessing that its most likely an issue with android auto but I am hoping the vast knowledge on here may lead to a solution.

If anyone has any idea how I might fix this that would be greatly appreciated.

I'm going to keep scouring the internet though and will keep you updated if I find a fix for this.

Regards,
Lophophoria

Greetings from Poland.

My 2008 i30 has an ongoing issue with the hatchback, which I think is due to an electrical connection problem. The hatch often will not open, and when this is the case, the rear wiper will also not work. Occasionally I'll go over a speed bump and the rear wiper will suddenly start working. As long as the rear wiper is working, the hatch will open.

I notice that when I do get the hatch open, the interior light in the trunk/boot will flicker while I'm closing it. I notice that if the light is on, I can hear the opening mechanism when I push the button to open it, and the wiper works. If the light is off, neither of these work.

I'm trying to figure out where the loose connector is, as I assume this is the problem, an how to access it so that I can try to fix it.

Sorry for my poor explanation. Any hints here?

@MKE.  Some random thoughts which may help troubleshoot your problem.  You said: I have tried all the things suggested by the local brains trust.  Did they cover any of the following items below.  (Please excuse that Items 1~4 cover the bleedin’ obvious, but I had to ask. 😊)

1.   Did you carry out your oil level test to gauge consumption with the engine always cold or always hot (for consistency/accuracy)?

2.   Any evidence of oil weep around the engine top and bottom, or in between, or on any undertray?

3.   Has your radiator coolant level increased at all?  Does the coolant feel okay to the touch i.e. not unusually slippery or smelly; or bubbles in the coolant when idling or revving.

4.   Is smoke coming out of the exhaust.  If so, what colour?  Does the volume of smoke change when accelerating?

5.   Has the engine been properly tested with a reliable compression gauge?  If so, what were the numbers for each cylinder?

6.   Has the engine been properly tested with a reliable vacuum gauge?  If so, what was the reading (gauge needle static or wavering)?

7.   Has the engine been properly tested with a reliable cylinder leakage gauge?   If so, what were the percentages (%) for each cylinder?

8.   Has the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PVC) system been checked?

9.   Has the engine’s oil pressure system been tested with a reliable pressure gauge?  If so, what were the results (at idle, or at a specified rpm)?

Can you provide any links to web sites discussing this class action.  Sounds interesting.

Sounds like Hyundai Australia is taking the absolute mickey - you're having to add just over a full litre of oil for just under every 2000km you are doing???  Your car from behind must be like a smoke making machine!

Hard to believe that as a company they could deny such a widespread issue.

Maybe time to cut your losses and sell to someone else - shitty solution but that sounds like abysmal work by Hyundai. Very shameful!
