Title: Blown Headlamps - Electrical Issue
Post by: Gekko on June 07, 2016, 01:42:36
Hi all,
has anyone else had an issue with blowing headlamps - I've have now blown 5 in the last 12 months. Only ever one at a time and not just on one side.

It may well be related - I've noticed twice now that when I start the car, all my radio station presets have been wiped..... but when I turn the car off and restart - all the radio presets are back ???????

Anybody seen or heard anything like this or have any suggestions ?

Thanks in advance

S.

The radio on my FD only ever played up twice, both times turning it off and on fixed it.

I fixed the headlight issue by replacing the bulbs with phillips long life eco vision globes and never had another issue. I have a post on here somewhere about it (and a discount code for Powerbulbs where I got them if it still works).

Cheap bulbs or fancy extra bright ones just wont survive if you have the headlight issue.

Update:

Ahh here it is, first globe went in at 83k, still there when I sold the CW at 136k

Hi Gekko, yes it is a known issue with the FD Diesel in particular. It appears to be related to the earthing of the light assembly. In the UK some have reported a dealer fix being applied under warranty. Unfortunately, although a few have done their own fix in Australia don't think Hyundai Australia acknowledge the issue. There is quite a bit of discussion about it in here. Beerman's fix might be easier...

Thanks for the replies and thanks mod for moving this to the right place (apologies)

It's become quite an annoying and expensive issue

Will try the long life bulbs
