This is really bugging me. I've set my phone to read phone contacts only (I've set it to read gmail contacts only). I've disconnected and reconnected the phone via bluetooth many times. No matter what I do I always get duplicate entries for all contacts. When I try to merge duplicate contacts on my phone or in gmail it says there are no duplicate contacts to merge. I've rung Hyundai and explained all this to them, but they couldn't give me any advice. They said it must be something to do with my phone. (Hyundai i30 Elite PD2)

had a similar problem with old phone as it had duplicate numbers stored on both SIM and phone memory.

Also have an issue with many duplicated contacts.
It appears the issue is caused by the phone being able to access your contacts from handset & any Google accounts you may have.
I use a PC app called Myphoneexplorer and it has the option to show all contacts, handset contacts & Google contacts. If you set it to show "All" you can see all the duplicates.
If you also install MPE on your mobile, you can sync, backup etc PC to phone.
