While local roadworks near my workplace are forcing vehicles to take a 3 mile detour around the coastline this week, some of us are foolish enough to tackle Wild Lane (aka, "Radar Road").
Not for the faint hearted :scared:
There are 15 foot drops into ditches, if you get it wrong, and judging by the local paper reports many do :sweating:

Luckily I get there early enough to avoid other foolish/brave drivers...
Remember, my camera is mounted centrally so it gives you an idea how close the nearside wheels are to disaster :blubber:
Here it is on google maps: http://goo.gl/maps/8ItzB (http://goo.gl/maps/8ItzB)

Stuff that, you can have that on your own, Steve!
-
You didn't look as though you were hanging around.
-
Yeah it's a shame the road is so bumpy otherwise it'd be easy to get over 60mph :scared:
The camera lies quite a lot too, as the passing cars really are just a few inches away :sweating:

Thanks Steve,
I enjoyed that :happydance: :goodjob:

Interesting drive to work. Liked the vid :goodjob2:

Is that taking you past the old air base?
-
He likes living "on the edge."

Is that taking you past the old air base?
I've no idea if there was an air base there previously... the land just seems to house the long sight radar for Blackpool airport (which is 2 miles away)

RAF Kirkham.
Uncle was stationed there WW2

that's one crappy road. :faint:
-
Had to hit the mirror fold-in button rather urgently this morning as an oncoming Seat decided he didn't want to share the road :scared:
-

Looks like I wasn't the only one taking a shortcut through "Wild Lane" :scared: :scared:

COUNCILLORS have slammed dangerous driving on a congested single track road linking Blackpool and St Annes.
HGVs and caravans have been spotted on the road in recent days, and although not banned, drivers have complained they are causing unnecessary bottlenecks.
-
So have they closed the road?
-
So have they closed the road?
It's never closed. My main route through to work has now reopened following the roadworks so I don't "do" Wild Lane any more :coolingoff:
-
I often used to use that road when I worked in St Annes. It is okay as long the other guy (or gal) knows how wide their car is and doesn't insist on hogging the road. :) Not a road to use in deep snow though.
Only ever seen one car in the ditch, surprisingly. :D
