Opened my Xmas present car cam yesterday. All seems ok, except when I ordered I didn't notice that the attachment to the window is a 3m adhesive type, (my fault, not a criticism of the device), rather than the convenient vacuum type. I would like to have the flexibility to move the device between cars, so I haven't used the adhesive method.

Do any of our forward thinking members have any suggestions regarding a stable attachment which can be removed easily.   :confused:

phil there is literally thousands of universal suction cup windscreen holders on E bay,you just have to find the one which is suitable for you,I did see one with just an flat plate on the end you could put the adhesive pad on that,so it could go from vehicle to vehicle

I Like this one the most, being able to be modified in so many ways.

Might this work?
Sturdy In-Car Smartphone Holder

Tried one of these, too much "shake" - amplified by the flexible extension support.

Ok, having considered the options, I think I'll be using a small 3m 2 sided tape on the car window with a washer fixed to the tape. On the camera, I'll use one of those fancy high power magnets that stick like s*** to a blanket. Should be fairly unobtrusive in either car.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. :thanks:

I have to use the original fitting because that's where the GPS receiver is housed. My neodymium magnets are very small so I'll need at least 2. :fingers:

They are many times more powerful than standard type magnets. In larger sizes, dangerous, too.

I purchased 12 of them from eBay to look at motor overunity, but haven't done anything with them yet.

Note. Be careful with them, they are coated, as they chip very easily and will oxidise rapidly, if the coating is breached. Best not to let them slam together, it causes chipping.

Some users wrap them in insulation tape or heatshrink tubing.

Happy to report that the magnetic solution works a treat. I've used 4 on the windscreen and 4 on the camera mount. Seems rock solid over vibrations etc and slides off easily when required.

Just got to read how the device works and will put pics here soon.

Here is the camera with the magnets fastened to the sticky surface.

And the corresponding magnets on the car windscreen.

3M Double sided Tape (Outdoor Type) available from Bunnings.

I have used this before and it will destroy itself by tearing, rather than let go.

TIP:  Ensure both set of magnets are oriented to attract each other.
