I grabbed the spare tyre out today to get some measurements (for offset)
Under the tyre there were two pools of water!

There would have been enough there for atleast 4 glasses of water easy.
Last week we had a lot of rain and it appears that there is a leak.

I'm going to get the dealer to look at it (among other things) and see what they can do.

If you've had rain in the past week, check your boot well for water...lol

There would have been enough there for at least 4 glasses of water easy.

How big are your glasses?

To me a glass is 1/2 pint (approx 260cc's) so 4 = 2 pints (1.25L)

Which is alot of water.

Have you checked your seals are sitting correctly around the hatch.

To do this you need a torch and another person.

When dark remove the parcel shelf and get them to kneel facing the rear on the back seat.

Make sure the rear hatch is closed correctly and get them to shine a torch around the rear door frame.  See if there is any light coming thro' the seal/gap between body and rear hatch or indeed any other places (excluding the glass windows   ).

Alternatively get someone to spray water over the car and see if you can trace the water entering the car.

  • 1.4 Petrol Active I'm no expert, so please correct me if

Thanks eye30.
It wasn't as much as 1.25L but it would have been probably 2 glasses this size

The glasses I have at home are a fair bit smaller than your average glass, so I may have exagerrated that a bit
;)

I'll do that test this arvo. See if I can see anything.

Shambles: it could have been there when delivered...
But strange though...lol

Hi Cam,
You really should do something about those small glasses of yours, real men drink Schooners, or even pints :D
Do you know that in Tassie they drink beer from 7 oz glasses. They also call a 10oz middy a schooner. Funny lot those Tasmanians
To save confusion, next time Cam you should give the measurements in cups as a cup is a metric measurement. Its like the old Cadbury chocolate ads that claimed that there is a glass and a half of full cream dairy milk in ever 200gram block of Cadbury chocolate. Its not much of a claim if you don't know the size of the glass.
Geeze we go on with some crap on this site

Taste it Cam! It could be salty!!!
I thought you had a boot cover - and wouldn't the fabric in the car be wet if there was a leak? Unless it ran along the seals...

Rubix, thats quite true.
The boot fabric was dry. I'll have to run a hose over it this arvo and see if any gets through.
Perhaps it did fall off the ship on the way over...lol

Hi Cam

We have just had a weekend of the most godawful rain I have seen in a long time, constant downpour for approx 36h, it stopped for a couple of hours yesterday morning then came back for the afternoon and evening.  It's dry today and I checked under my spare this morning for you, dry as a bone.

I wonder if you have a rear shocker not seated properly, might explain bouncy suspension and leak at the same time???

Thanks Bumpkin.
Much appreciated
:D

You might be onto something with the shock.
It could well be related. We'll find out on Fri I guess

After reading this thread,  just checked my hatch after 600mm+ was dumped on the car in one week. Not one drop of water to be found anywhere within the car!

These boots are made for leaking.
