Here's a small problem I noticed on my car.

When I turn on the right indicator signal and turn the steering wheel right and then turn it back to normal the indicator pin(stalk) clicks back to normal position, the problem is that when the pin clicks back to normal the left indicator flashes for a fraction of a second, but enough to light the left green arrow on the dash and the left indicators.

I've noticed this on other vehicles, not i30.

Is it possible that there's something wrong with the indicator pin? This does not happen when I'm turning left.

If you want to test this on your car without going out to drive, here's how:

1. Turn on your car.
2. Have steering wheel in neutral position.
3. Turn the indicator pin right.
4. Turn your steering wheel to the right and then back to neutral.
5. Watch the green arrows on your dash.
6. do it at least 5-7 times to make sure its OK, or try the other way.

This does not happen all the time :S

Must be something wrong with the pin, or maybe Newton is to strong where I live and pulls the pin to hard down so it barely touches the left connection

I'll call the dealer after the weekend.

There's a chance the original light bulbs wont have enough time to light, but the LED's lights immediately.

If everyone is having the same problem then there is probably no solution :(

Why have a solution? Does it bother you so much?  :)

It's kind of lame to have those fancy LED tail lights and always when you turn right both indicators flash

Oh lol, you have those LED tail lights  :P

I think the problem is the recoil. It bounces to hard/fast back and touches the other connector. Maybe adjusting the springs somehow

Does not happen on mine.

I have RHD. As yours and tzwientjuh are LHD I wonder if the wiring configeration is different.

Which side of the sterering wheel is you indicator stalk?
On my RHD it is on the left.  Window wipers on the right

On the left side,

I think the stalk comes down with to much force.

Problem solved.

I cut down a small piece of this foam(?)

And squeezed under the stalk,

At least the stalk doesnt go down as hard as it used to do.

I guess this is a design flaw in the i30 ?

Ask for a finders fee if they take it on and modify other i30's with a small piece of foam/

Fascinating. Our RHD i30's have the indicators on the right.

Oh. And the indicators do occasionally flash the opposite indicator once on cancelling.

Really? on the right? So your driving a left handed i30 then  :D

I think most of the i30 flash on cancelling. As for Hemmi, cuz he has led lail lights, they also flash. As for us, the bulbs are to slow to go on in a flash just like Hemmi said.

Don't go reading too much into where the stalks are.

Japanese and Korean cars are all manufactured with the stalks on the right, they are converted for different markets.

I was looking at the Ceed and tried to get a better discount cos they were the first batch with the stalks the wrong way round and Kia had resolved the "problem" for the UK market and the next lot were converted.

It may be that early i30's only came with them on the right also, I don't know

The configeration for all cars, no matter the manufacturer, sold in the European market should all be the same no matter whether RHD or LHD, i.e. indicators/lights on the left, window wipers on the right side of the steering wheel.

That is true eye and Kia had to change over but if you find a 56 plate Ceed have a look in it and you will see they are in Korean config, so I just wonder if the 07 plate era i30 had the same issue.

Don't think there was any problems as mines 1 of the first in the UK bought Sept 2007 , released 1 Sept 2007

OK that's cleared that up, but obviously the OZ models although RHD just get the dash reversed without alteration from the Korean config.

I remember something similar, but much more dangerous (IMO), with my VW Polo.  That age of Polo (1983) did not have servo assisted brakes and when altered to UK config instead of reversing the braking system as such they just bunged in a long rod which went across the bulkhead, with no assistance you had to push the pedal twice as hard to get the same level of braking, had a few hair raising moments in that thing I can tell you

Back on topic then..................What ARE the indications
