Hi Dazz,

Floriade does sound like a drink, or maybe somthing you would clean the toilet with.
Its actually a celebration of spring. It is set around lake burley griffin and incorporates hundreds of gardens all planted out in spring flowering plants. They use mostly bulbs, mainly Tulips but also Iris, Daffodils and poppies to create wonderful dispays and designs.
It attracts thousand of tourists each year and generates plenty of business for the community.
If your a keen gardener, you will love it. If your not, its still worth a look for it is on an amazing scale.

TP,

Please don't pospone it for me - we are likely to have a pretty complicated life for the next couple of months so may not be able to make it anyway. Maybe the next one?

Actually, a Canberra meet (First meet) during Floriade sounds like a perfect idea. (Hyundai i30, better for the environment, cleaner air, flowers.)

I think we have a few members that could make it to this one.

Anyone interested?  :P

Thumper,
I prefer your earlier suggestion of Bowral. I think more Sydney siders would make the trip.
I am definatley keen. It just about where and when.

Ok, cool, a Canberra meet can be done later.  :D

Bowral still is on the cards. (I'm flying back up to Sydney tomorrow (Friday) for two weeks, working.

Will chat some more when I get back. (Grrr, bloody work!)

Thumper,
I'll show my Pommy ignorance here.  What is Floriade?
Is it some sort of carnival?

Dazz I just caught the '2 acres for $83000' part - wow - Is that the going rate for land in Tassie? - around here 1 acre will set you back about $325,000 unless it's miles out of town... and we are nearly 4 hours away from Sydney (an acre in Syd, if you could buy one - probably several $mil I suppose nowadays)

I'd be up for a little hello at some stage. I think I've seen about 5 i30's driving about since I've had mine (Feb 08) and it'd be fun to see a few more all together.

Hi Simon,

Does that mean we have ourselves yet another Canberra member? :)
We are well represented here. There is CHB, Lowemissionsi30, Bikejockey, Thumper( well, close enough, just outside our border) and myself. Sorry if i missed any other Canberrans off the list.

bez10y
Sorry Eyma, Sydney resident. Though I'd love to drive the i30 to Canberra at some stage, done it a few times in our old Pulsar but I reckon it'd be a nicer trip in an i30.

*edit: typo*

Ok, let's try to get this ball rolling.

I'm proposing a Canberra BBQ meet down the cotter next weekend (22nd or 23rd November) Say around 10am-11am up from where the old pub used to be. (Drive towards the Cotter dam)

A quick BBQ lunch, get to say hello to each other, have a chin wag, and plan the future gathering up North with the rest of the NSW folk.

What say you Canberrians?  :P

Its a maybe from me.
If the weather is fine I'll be there

Something about having several i30's lined up in a row gets me all excited.

EymaTeapot said he'll try and make it.

The wife and I will be there, with a little feed on the BBQ.

Even if you don't have an i30, yet, all are welcome to come down and have a chat.  8-)

Love to come. My i30 purchase is on hold until the new year but I'd really like to chat about the car.

I'm busy on Saturday but may still be able to sneak out for an hour or 2. Sunday's fine.

Weather permitting, Sunday 23rd looks like a go.

Ok, down at the Cotter, go over the large bridge at the old pumping station, go around the turns, head over the smaller bridge then turn right like you are going towards the Cotter dam.

Have a look for my silver i30 (Can't miss the tail lights)

I'll be somewhere near a BBQ and seating of some sort.

Say, around 11am-Midday.

Even if you don't have an i30, come up and say hello!  :D

Yeah I thought the weather might spoil it.
Its sunny with blue sky at the moment, but that could change very soon.

So are we definitely gonna reschedule to the 30th?
Depending on weather ofcourse
:)

If the weather is good in the morning, it's still on.

If it's raining cats and dogs, then it'll the following weekend.  8)
