Anyone know if these are any good?

Motorama have a set of 4 on ebay off a Kia. Have sent an inquiry to find out what model they came off, but would suspect that Kia and Hyundai use the same rims, as it would be too expensive not to.

Bidding currently at $100, so might have a go regardless.

Like to know what Trev thinks of them....

They should have said what mileage they've done...Not just "like new"

They look like they have been swapped from a car to bang on some mags to me.  Otherwise they wouldn't be 'as new'.

Would be interested to hear what the Guru has to say, If Kia use them they can't be that bad....

I believe they were fitted to the Soul.

So Google tells me.....Guess I'll get an answer to my questions tomorrow...

And I'll forget all about them until Saturday

Nexen is supposedly Korean but I'm sure all the ones I've ever seen were made in Malaysia. Might be wrong about that though.
Dazz is right. I don't think I've ever seen them fitted as OEM so  I suspect they are replacements - maybe off a Kia traded in?
They had some patterns which lent themselves to uneven shoulder wear but I would hope they've resolved that by now.
The CP661a designation is not one I've ever heard of.

I also would have thought Kia would have used Hankook or Kumho as OE like Hyundai But again, that's just an assumption.

Apparently they are off the cerato so the rims won't fit. But $121 for 4 tyres was too good to pass up. If they aren't as new I walk away and don't buy and I'll get my mechanic to swap them over when the time comes, then get a wheel alignment somewhere that does a good job (ie where Surferdude tells me to go!!)

I'll let you know how they go when the current set die, if they are crap, I'll get a new set and ebay the Nexen's without the rims.

G'day all,

Picked up the rims/tyres today.

Brand new tyres. Apparantly the dealer also sells Kia.

looked at the rims and although they look the same, the little numbers on the side are different, so I'll have to swap them over.

Also if you know anyone who needs some 15" kia wheel covers let me know, they threw them in for free.

I found out yesterday I was wrong about Nexen not being OE.
Had a guy come in with an Orix Lease Car - Kia Sorrento with 29,000 klms on it and OE fitted Nexens. Worn out on the front.
But he confirmed they came with the car new.

What would I know? :-[

Carry on.......... :whistler:

I had always thought that Nexen were economy etc grade tyres (like I reckon Hankook used to be).  I looked @ my 1st Hyundai Velostar yesterday (in UK) - it was fitted with Nexen tyres, 17" or 18" I think.  I didn't pick out the tyre model though.
Nexen tyres are still available at low (ish) /economy type prices in UK - I would be interested in any feedback as to their performance.
Are they as good as Pirelli /Dunlop /Michelin etc in the wet?  (ie as opposed to some of the terrible cheap tyres we can get)
Do they last OK?

IMO tyres are a suck it & see. I've had Bridgestones that seemed to always have punctures, never demonstrated demon grip & were quite noisy... didnt last long either.

I've had Budget brands that were just like the Bridgestones but didnt get punctures...

Then I've had other Budget brands that were quite good... different Budget brands were talented in different performance measures but never really consistent.

So in the end I have opted for a Budget brand that I find good enough for me.

Falken... seem to do all things OK & for me are better in the wet than most other budget brands.

Is the old saying still true?

The harder the compound the longer they last but the less grip u get?

Back in the day Pirelli Cinturatos were a great example... lasted aaaaaaages but had almost no grip in the wet!
