Recently someone pointed out to me that the external black plastic triangle in the bottom corner of the window of a rear door on my 2009 FD was cracked. It's such a neat vertical crack that at first I thought it was meant to be like that, but of course the triangle on the other side is in one piece, just like on all the other cars I've subsequently looked at. Has this happened to anyone else and if so how? I would also be interested to know the likely cost of replacing (and fitting) the part and possible consequences of leaving it as it is. It doesn't look as if the glass will fall out but even so I'm reluctant to open and close the (electric) window and also wonder if moisture will start to be a problem. In the past, Hyundai have been very good with one or two warranty issues, as it doesn't look to me like impact damage is it possible that this could be covered as well?

I guess you can try for a warranty claim but on a 5 year old car and being glass I wouldn't hold my breath !!!!

Nothing lost in trying tho.

good luck  :victory: :victory: :victory:

Thanks for the reply but it's not the glass that's cracked. It's the back plastic triangle in the corner of the window that helps keep the glass in place that's cracked.

If it is the plastic surround(which is the way I'm reading your post)shouldn't be an issue as this is only a aesthetic cover,it should not stop you opening the rear window or be letting any moisture in,those small triangular windows like the front and rear window are glued in with a special windsrceen silicone glue

Thanks for your quick responses. The crack in the plastic was noticed in France during a European mainland trip. One thought was that it could be temperature related, but it wasn't that hot and the car has survived far sunnier days. When I get the chance I think I'll sound out my friendly dealer.

If the dealer says you have to pay ask for price.

But before you buy check out a few breakers yards as i expect they may have a few fd's in or they may be able to source/suggest best place to buy from.

Might be cheaper for the Dealer to source and fit the part {even if you have to pay) than cleaning up and fitting a recycled part in this situation.

As usual the dealership was friendly and helpful. If I remember rightly the price of the part is £7.74 and fitting is quick and straightforward. However they have come across this at least once before and will do it under warranty.

At £7.74 doing it under warranty is good PR for them.

Well done to them and another result.... :goodjob:
