Title: New hubcaps
Post by: GaKu on September 09, 2020, 06:04:03
I think this was covered earlier but I can't find the post.

On the FD, can we put aftermarket hubcaps on top of the wheel nuts? I still have the original ones that are fixed under the nuts. But want to change them now.
So wondering if those nuts can be fixed directly onto the wheel and then put new caps on. The wheel guy said the nuts are too long for it to work so just checking if others have done it.

Normal hubcaps will work. Nuts are left under the hubcap.

I use Hyundai ones in winter tyres. In summer tyres I use "normal" over the nuts hubcaps. Had to change one rim, and even I got a set of Hyundai rims the valve is in different position when compared to nut holes in the rim. Can't use hyundai hubs as the valve hole is in the wrong plc. I use Biltema hubcaps and they work fine.

There might be some hubcaps that will not fit, but generally speaking the center of regular hubcaps have enough offset to fit over the nuts. The OEM nuts are not that long. Only difference to normal nuts is that there is that lip, which holds the hyundai hubcap. I doubt the knowlegde of your tyre guy.

Thanks.
I got a set from Biltema and like the new look :)
