Title: 2013 diesel active auto won’t start in parked
Post by: Yogibear07 on December 15, 2023, 14:47:45
Hi, I have just bought a 2013 i30 active auto 1.6 diesel and I have noticed a problem. It will not start in the parked position yet if I move the selector to Neutral it starts

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Does your dashboard correctly display the gear it is in? If yes, then park sensor switch in the shifter mechanism may be faulty.

I have found tonight that if I push the selector foward with a little force it will start in parked. Is there a sensor or switch that could cause this issue?

Yes , there is a switch in the gearshift mechanism. A member within the last year had this exact problem. I believe they removed the trim around the gearshift and found the problem switch. I don't know if they cleaned or replaced or repositioned. But I think I remember it being a simple fix.
