Good reviews, especially for the diesels.
Interesting that they say the manual gear change is a bit notchy.

Good reviews, especially for the diesels.
Interesting that they say the manual gear change is a bit notchy.

I have now driven 5 different new i30's - 2 petrol and 3 diesels - every one had a smooth gear change - expecially in comparison to my current car which is notchy on 1st and 2nd.

I have said before, and I will say it again, I find it strange that car magazines report that the i30 steering is vague at the straight ahead position. I reckon that the heavy steering of the VW Golf is their reference and the light - but progressive steering - of the i30 is something they are not used to.

Not having driven the Golf, I have absolutely no complaints about the I30 steering.  :goodjob2:

Well, I've never been impressed with the i30's steering.... :undecided:

I've got used to it's lack of feel and straight ahead vagueness, but I still don't like it....

with some wide tyres and lowered springs they turn a lot better Russ.  :winker:  you also get a better fell and feedback through the steering wheel.   :goodjob2::goodjob:

Our 2011 cw crdi has notchy 1st and 2nd too, most annoying thing during winter here, as I think it's much worse with low temps. The 2 diesels we had in the family both had this problem, while the 2 petrols we've had didn't. Not looking forward to the new i30's with notchy gearboxes.

Alan hasn't found them to be notchy.. each new model of the i30 seems better in that department (from my experience and other comments on here...) :goodjob:

Yes, Alan said they're smooth which is great.
Second gear on mine is the notchy one.

That's a greatthing, really hope they are all smoother. Though I'd still want a new i30 cw once arrived :) Hopefully get time for a test drive during the weekend in a new i30.

Just went past the local Dealer this afternoon, there's 2 new i30's in the yard.

They look great in the flesh, I will be at the open house introduction this weekend at the dealer.  :D

When looking at the Hyundai.dk website it seems that the 128 BHP CRDi is only available with the auto gearbox  :disapp:

I might do a bit of a video review of the new model when it arrives if they will let me have one for a few hours  Might be a month or two away though I am guessing ...

I will make a better planned job of it though than my CW review (and I have a Tripod now)  :goodjob:

More unbiased non commercial viewpoints, a really good idea Dazz. Better watch out Alan doesn't get the jump on you though, he has an unfair advantage, I'm afraid.

We could have our own "cash for comments" scandal.
Positive comments in return for a good price on a new i30
(By way of explanation, some of our Australian radio personalities were embroiled in a scandal for taking cash payments in return for saying nice things about certain products).

Daxzz is safe from me - I don't have a video camera. The one in my mobile phone would not be good enough to do justice to a great car........

Anyway - words speak louder than........er........

Given he's got one on order, you might have a point there.
