The worlds only airworthy Vulcan bomber once again graced the skies above Leuchars with her presence.

I had a picture of one of these on my wardrobe door when I was about 12 so that's about 55 years ago. I thought it the most magestic aeroplane ever built at the time. Opinion not changed. Last one eh? What a treat.  :goodjob2:

Re the Euro Fighters, nice looking aircraft.  I sw them at a distance at RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire when I was in UK in May.  Visited the Battle of Britain Flight there plus saw a lot of aircraft old and new.  Well worth a visit for aircraft freaks.

Uh oh, should have posted this on the Euro Fighter topic, sorry people. :-[

Great looking plane, but inefficient low speed wing design though.

My favorite plane, is General Dynamics F-111.  :happydance:

I don't think they were worrying about low speed when designing her 84, I can just hear the conversation.

"What is it for?"
"Dumping a big nuke on Russia" (sorry to our Russian members, but that was how it was!!)
"So we don't want to hang around then?"
"No"

Superb photos of possibly my favourite craft. Got to admit, it looks better in the air than it would be parked up at Blackpool airport (remember that one?)

Next time bumpers, try to record some sound for us - I'd love to hear it grinding by :)

Followed some time later by :-

"On final approach, flaps 15"
" Flaps, what flaps, this is delta wing !"

" :wtf::( :( :( :fum:

Possibly, but she has a speedbrake arrangement which comes out of the tops of the wings instead of flaps as seen here in the landing shots from a couple of years ago.

That plane probably inspired the Concorde, pity it's not flying anymore.  :(

I do, I do...   I have crawled all over that one which used to be parked (unloved) and Blackpool municipal airport.  Couple o quid (UKPs) and ya just clambered aboard and sat in the pilots seat.  I very much doubt I would fit in there now being of a slightly Rubunesque build because the cockpit it very, and I do mean VERY small.   AAAaahhhh happy days  :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

i worked on the stabiliser system on the Vulcan in the late fifties. One if I remember correctly was used with one Concorde engine slung under it's bomb bay.
