The diesel is definitely no race car. It's got torque that's it. I've given up trying to beat someone off the lights. Its a slow and steady wins the race kind of engine

Suits me fine. Thankfully, I've long since lost interest in that stuff. Kinder on the car and kinder on my wallet. :D

Ok folks, just to let everyone know the replacement turbo fitted cost me $534 which included an oil and filter change.

All up costs as follows
Replacement turbo delivered was $675
Towing to workshop was $125
Fitting to i30 & oil change $534
Total $1334 - saving $1066 over NRMA quote.

Original quote from NRMA Motorserve was $2400 to supply and fit.

No more track time but its been a fun and I've learnt quite a bit also. I hope my experience has been helpful to you all or at least entertaining.

Well, at least you managed to save some of the cost.

Now, you're going to drive the car like the rest of us do, aren't you.  :foottap:

No, I get too much pleasure watching the l/100 drop and I DO like passing the petrol engined cars on the freeway hills, without changing down gears.  :D
