I know there are many people that have waited a little while for an i30, but how long is just too much?
Could people share how long they had to wait.
I am up to 2 months now.
-
We waited 3 months - Early Dec 07 to Early Mar 08.

Hi Saint,
We waited 3 months for our SLX CRDi (Think that is about average for our model)
For those prepared to compromise on colour and model there are a fair few i30's in stock at some dealers now... and some good deals to be had if you want to drive one away.
The down side in most cases would be no ESP or factory CC in Diesel models...
-
I waited a week for my SR (pretty much so it could be tinted)
I went from one dealer to the next looking for an SLX and was told that it would be up to 3 months for delivery, but my first dealer that I approached looking for prices on the SR had one in stock! (unfortunately I didnt get to choose the colour but I was happy with the result)
-
Dear Mr Saint.. 2 months and counting is nothing.. :(
-
We have a member from Antigua who ordered his in January and still no car...Now that patients!
-
I ordered mine (SLX CRDi white manual) on the 26th July this year.
The dealer told me it would take around 3 months to get here.
I'm hoping it comes sooner rather than later.
Dear Mr Saint.. 2 months and counting is nothing.. :(
Maybe ours will be on the same shipment?
-
Yeh, I think there will be a heap of happy new Owners come the end of this month..!
-
Theres not one day thats gone past where I haven't looked at reviews / pics / brochures / specs on the i30....lol!
I'm starting to get excited
-
The local dealers here are now saying to anticipate 4-6 months on delievery of i30's. will be produced there freeing up the Korean plant. This should relieve the supply problem pretty quickly.
Problem for Hyundai is that by than the i30 may not be the flavour of the month, something else will have come along and they will have missed a huge opportunity.
-
Hi Eyma,
Are you sure the waiting lists are still growing? It seems to me car sales have slowed down quite a bit in the last month or two and the local Hyundai Dealers in Tas seem to have most of the range in stock....
-
My wait is similar to bdennis - ordered early May, hoping for delivery sometime in September.
About a month ago I did a search and found cars like mine (white SLX crdi) sitting in dealer's yards in Adelaide Perth and Darwin (Perth one even had Protectz pack that I ordered). Many more SLX crdis of other colours. I was very tempted to fly to Perth and buy the car except the dealer here would not commit that I would not lose my deposit so I ended up continuing the wait. (When I ordered the dealer told me "4 to 6 weeks". yeah right..)

Hi Dazz,
You're right that car sales are down, fuel prices, Interest rate rises blamed. This is all the more reason though for i30 sales to be on the rise. Consumers are looking for smaller more econonomic vehciles and the i30 fits this bill perfectly. Small car sales are on the up (look at Corolla, biggest selling car two years running) and the traditional big 6's are on the decline.
I am suprized to here that your dealers in Tassie have stoke though.
There's your answer guys dont want to wait to get your i30, fly to tassie than put you boat on the ferry back to the main land. Dazz might even put you up for the night.

1 day!

I've been waiting since May 17 - still no word on delivery. My dealership seems to have quite a few i30s in stock (maybe 8?) but I don't know the mix except there are a few diesels.
-
i seem to be seeing a lot of i30 Diesel's around on the road now. specially in the last few weeks.

Not where I live in the UK
-
Lakes,
I agree. Today I pulled up behind a silver SR at the lights. I thought that was cool but than a red SLX crossed the intersection as I waited. That is the most i30's i've seen in one place, short of the dealership.

I've seen 5 or so around town.
Theres a nice white one that I saw parked in the main street of Nowra.
White SR with really nice rims.
Anyone here?
-
Hi M8,
A white SR with non standard alloys?
-
** WARNING ** Venting post ahead - contains ranting, raving, dummy spitting and plain having a whine**
Amazing to hear all your stories - thanks guys. Somehow it is not making me feel any better that I am waiting.
Why should you have to wait, as someone mentioned it is not a hand made luxury car. Mind you on that note if I was paying $300K for a luxury car I would feel very uncomfortable about waiting for it also.
The thing is in our case (as I am sure similar to others) we need a second car, we are struggling getting around with one - having to organise lifts, catching trains, walking etc etc. So the decision is made and off you go to rectify the issue - you research, plan, work on your budget, get quotes and finally you are ready purchase but there is no stock and you are going to have to wait...and wait a long time. To be honest I am very surprised at how patient the majority of you guys are. Yes granted the i30 is a decent car no doubt otherwise I guess I would not be waiting this long, but there are other cars that are not all that bad and I could have had a car back in June when I ordered the i30.
Can you tell I had a bad train ride on the way home from work tonight - 1 hour standing on a train while I was squashed in the corner and some guy sneezed in my face - I am sick of the damn train.
Okay rant is over...
-
Hang in there m8... I think Hyundai would have preferred not to have supply issues (To build some more factories take time)
-

Hey Daz.
I cant describe them, but they definitely aren't stock.
They look unreal though.
-
Okay rant is over...
Sorry to hear you had a rough day Saint.
I really feel for you. I know how awful the train service is. Well its not too pleasant coming up from Nowra to Wollongong anyways.
The train itself isn't too bad, but the trouble stems from the other people. Some of them are just plain rude and disgusting.
Hang in there mate.
Hopefully it wont be too much longer!
-
Hey Saint,
Waiting sucks. And you are right, there are plenty of other perfectly good cars out there that are available immediatley. However, do you really want to look out at the drive way for the next 5 years and see your second choice sitting there knowing that for just a little wait (ok, long wait) you could be seeing the car you really wanted?
Hang in there mate.

Thanks guys, now you have made me smile
-
Geez,
I dont usually make people smile.
I usually make people cringe, at least my singing and my jokes do anyway.
-
I waited 5 months.

Ahhh, the ol' train ride. I had a guy spew on my foot once if that makes you feel any better?
I waited only a few days to take delivery of my SR (but it was in car yard at the time).
Hang in there saint. The wait will be worth it.

My car was waiting for me to finish the paperwork ... whole 2 weeks ...
-
Well it has been a while since I was last in. I noticed the 'how long' question and just had to answer.. it took 5 months for mine to arrive. The last week before I got my i30 I had to contact Hyundai, a couple of times to get any action. In all I it was not the best experience I have had purchasing a car.
There is a bright side, the car is great... and in the mail I received a cheque from my dealer reimbursing me for the cost of the iPod cable and mud-flaps, so a nice smile appeared.
Good luck with you wait, but it is a real pain.
-
Hi Wayne Good to C ya .. So you're enjoying the car then...
-
The wait is almost over..
Ship due to dock in Melbourne on the 12th-14th of Sept.
Car due at dealer on 24th or 25th of Sept.
Should be available for pick up on 26th or 27th Sept with Factory Cruise control (on SLX CRDi Auto).
2 hr drive or train trip to pick it up..
2 hr Drive home.
-
Hi bdennis,
Where'd you get that info - I've heard nothing from my dealer but my car might be on the same ship...
Did they inform you of any price rise?
-
BJ,
I got the info from my dealer..
They should know by now when the ship is due, if not they can contact Hyundai to find out.
I live in Victoria..
Then they know roughtly that it will take 10 days to get the car off the ship and up the road to the dealer (190km from the ship). So all info fairly easy if the dealer wants to check up and apply some logic..
Re the price..
I have a verbal that they will knock off the price of the after market cruise that I paid for (on the contact) from the total deal. So roughly worth $600.. I dont have it in writing but thats what im told and I have no reason to doubt what my dealer has told me.
My order is a CRDi SLX, Auto, Protectz, Silver, plus I added after market cc (but opted to wait for a Factory cc car). So the change of the Std esp does not really effect my order.
-
Should also knock off the price of Protectz pack, since ESP is now supposed to be standard along with the CC.
-
Hi Davet...
No such thing as a free lunch. Think it is only fair to up the price $500 for the extra features (will be recouped in resale) "Model 2008+"
-
I did 2 months of internet research and decided I wanted an i30 SR, Black or Steel Gray. Went to one dealership and they said 2-3 month waiting list so we decided to try another dealership to see if we could sweeten the deal and low and behold they had a Silver SR in the show room, it looked fantastic! Took it for a test drive, haggled them a bit to get free tinted windows and floor mats and within 3 days I was driving away in it...
I was really lucky to have grabbed it, I really love the Silver look now though I've seen a White SR and a Blue SLX and they both look pretty hawt. Let's face it, they look great in any colour. If I had the opportunity to pick a custom colour, I'd love to see one in Torana Orange ;)
-
[custom colour, I'd love to see one in Torana Orange
Bez10y, I think Hyundai could get a bit more adventurous with their colours, especially with the SR.
Colours like the orange offered on the focus. A bright purple would look good too, I know my wife would have gone that way if offered

Agree with you there 100% about colour options, I know that Mazda2 green seems to be fairly popular and looks pretty clean.
-
I'm curious if the waits most of you have experienced this year are on all the models or more so the diesel versions? I ask because I am in the market for an i30 but will be looking at the base model SX petrol version and am wondering if the wait will be as long for this.
-
Hi again Zef..
From our experience ... the wait shouldn't be as long for an SX petrol (would imagine most dealers have them in stock - just a case of one having your colour choice)
-
Got mine today... Very happy. Order went to the dealer End of August (around 27th I think) Which makes it about 6 weeks. Cruise + ESP See the pics section..
