Hi sheepman.. Welcome to the club.

The 1.6 CRDi is still an impressive motor (for the size) and has a chain driven cam, which requires less maintenance than your belt driven one. Think your motor is based on an older design.

There is talk the next generation of i30 due out late next year (and pictured elsewhere on here) will have a choice of 3 x 1.6 ltr engines including the CRDi and a turbocharged one. I suspect one of them might be a high output direct injection model and all three should be quite economical.

While many of us CRDi lovers wish they would put one of the 2.0 or 2.2 R diesels in the i30 it doesn't look likely at this stage  :disapp:

Edit: I assumed you were from New Zealand   :winker:  but I see you are from the UK (guess you are a farmer then?)

Welcome to the club :D

I have an earlier smaller engine (1.6crdi 115ps) and I believe the technology in more recent engines will be more refined.

I'm guessing, though, that you're more concerned about spare parts for your obsolescent engine. Don't be.

Or should that be "don't baa" :P

Don't get me wrong. Many of us would have bought/ considered buying a 2.0 Crdi if they had been available in OZ (never offered over here) But the 1.6 CRDi is still impressive and a great drive...

P.S. You might be the only sheep farmer on the site... :goodjob: (I love Lamb but very expensive now  :disapp: )
