Hi Folks,

Just wanted to say thanks for the feedback received so far about trading my i30 on a Camry Hybrid.. I got one PM in particular wishing me the best and telling me how much they were ostracized on another website when they switched from a Ford to a Hyundai ... I think it says a lot for this site and its members that that hasn't happened to me (so far )

As I have said elsewhere on here I've made too many friends on here and have too much admiration for Hyundai and their great little i30 to be going anywhere soon.. So 10,000 posts is still on the cards..

P.S. Couple of new photos in Diesel pix very shortly..

Hey Dazz, your humour , friendliness and valued opinions will always outweigh
the fact you no longer have an i30. Keep on posting mate!!!!

Thanks Russ  :D

I guess it is because of the sticker on my back window but all my friends and co-workers first words when they hear I am changing cars was nothing to do with the cars.. It was all "what about the i30 club..."

I take it you will get a sticker made which says:

My last car was an i30 and it was the bees knees or something complementary

Stick around mate.
Your insight is always going to be valuable.
BTW. You could always trade your wife's car in on an i20 (or an i30).

There is an immaculate red 2008 i30SR with around 50,000 kms on the clock at the Hyundai Dealer in Burnie tas (about 50kms from where I live) for only A$17,000  :D This is why I was happy to get around that as a trade for my 2008 CRDi with more kms..)

If I have a windfall I might trade the Tiida on an i45

Thing is the wife is pretty happy with the Tiida and only does around 9 or 10K per year in her car (and resale on the Tiida is poor - although I think they are under-rated)

Dazz

Why didn't you give SWMBO the i30?

Anyway, even though you are defecting to the cardigan wearing manufacturer we will still enjoy your posts and I thank you for all the ones you have already made.

I wish you all the best and hope your subscription to Readers Digest doesn't last too long before you come back to the mighty H!  :P

Sorry but someone had to give you at least a ribbing! I won't go as far as ostracizing though!  :P

Regards

Daniel

Hey Dazz the Blue is a nice colour on that granny car
Just joking m8
hey i've never ever driven a Hibrid or what ever u call them, just wondering if they have a tacho or volt meter or what?
also  why did you go Auto? do they also come with 6 speed manuel?
cheers
ps, my young friend Briony, her parents live in New York city, she live's in Sydney, a few years back she went over for a visit & her Mum would not trust her to drive mum's Camery, Briony told her Mum that was an insult as they are the lowest form of transport we have out here
but Briony is not into cars at all so would not know, but made me laugh when she told me.

Sorry to hear that, hope you keep on posting here

Toyota's are great cars, the Camry looks interesting, and I'm sure you'll be happy with that car too. But you have to admit, you'll miss the "little" CRDI

Post some pics of the new car, till the "Ban" button doesn't work

Firstly sorry about the BUZZ BOX comment.. I was only joking of course   I doubt my new car would keep up with the diesel up a hill... It only has something like 187 NM of torque versus 255nm for the CRDI  :-[

John,

The Hybrid only comes as a CVT (no manual model) They have a sort of economy meter instead of a tacho...

Camry in it's various forms is/has been the bigest selling mid size car in the USA for a number of years (a bit like the Commodore over here) and you know how we joke about them over here

To everyone else.. Yes I will keep posting (whether you like it or not) and will slip a discreet thread in here or there about my new car which I collect at 5PM 2moro

difference is an electric motor makes it torque instantly...

pull the plastic covers off the engine bay!! i want a real look!! i do like the look of the hybrid camry's... there are a few that get around here!!

i think the "economy gauge" is a bit like the vacume gauges that they had in cars in the 1980's...

*agent remembers a wreck of a blue bird he had with an "ecomomy gauge in it*

Probably the one thing I don't like is the vertical mount for the fog lights which they did to diferentiate it from the Aurion..Ithink they look wrong (I'll post a picture when I get mine)

I am going to photoshop the picture and see if it would look better if I colour code the black platic mount to match the body colour...

Also considering Sportivo side skirts (don't think the Sportivo front spoiler will fit though as the Hybrid front bumper is different shape to reduce drag coeficient to .27)

P.S. Saw a late model Hyundai Granduer today in white .. quite imposing (looks a bit like a larger maxima)

Dazz checked out them online they only garantee the battery 160,000k or 8 years, those batterys cost a fortune also what becomes of the old battery's?
but if you keep it two years should be right. tassie climate would help too. what size is the petrol motor they use?
