Title: Why three washers with Oil Filter?
Post by: freddyfrog on January 31, 2012, 22:11:07
I recently purchased a cartridge Oil filter for diesel 1.6 I30 Before installing I found three washers; two are obvioous parts to replace existing washer (ie plastic washers that fit directly to the cartridge assembly) But the third washer is small steel washer which is smaller than the washer used for the oil sump plug; Any ideas what this is for??
The box the filter came in was also branded for Kia as well as Hyundai;; perhaps the washer is for another model that uses a similar cartridge?
Cheers thanks for reply

thanks for that but the aluminium washer is way to small to fit the curreent sump plug; may be they gave me an earlier model sump plug. Who knows?

When I changed the oil, I used again the old washer (wasn't the new in the set). There is no dripping, and the oil drain screw is dry.
