They start in about 18 hours or so, I suppose.

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2013/nov/19/australia-win-back-ashes-england-glenn-mcgrath

Glenn Mcgrath may be a little biased but I'm quite expecting England to lose the first match, because they have a habit of doing that when playing overseas.

Though I'll be tuning in a midnight, after I get back from the pub, to see what is going on.  :D

Our form in the football is even poorer than usual, doubt if we'll get through to the later stages in the World Cup, so I'm hoping that keeping the Ashes will be a compensation.

p.s. don't care about the football anyway.

  • Sorry, but my karma just ran over your dogma.
I hope you're not at the pub for 18 hours before you start watching the test, Diablo

Typical, I'm in the UK when the Ashes is on.  And no, I won't be in the pub watching it (I wish).  I have to start course tomorrow for a new aircraft type.

May be the pub is a better option.

At least handy to drown your sorrows

I wouldn't give a xxxx to either england at cricket or football.

May be tiddlewinks!

Golly gosh. England seem to have the upper hand at 86-4.  Maybe my prediction of an Aussie win in the first test was wrong ?

I've noticed that Broad isn't too popular with a section of the crowd. Maybe they have been influenced by this newspaper front page ?

Broad has got all the wickets so far. Good job we didn't leave him at home.

Mind you, the Aussie tail batted very well in some of the tests in England.

I don't know why the Aussies are calling him a cheat.  The umpire said he wasn't out, therefore he wasn't out.  Get over it!!  FFS!!!!!!

This is why with cricket one should always wait to see how the second side get on before becoming ecstatic about apparent success.... Said it before... :head_butt:

Pretty amazing to see both the pacemen and the spinner getting into it on Day 2.

Looking more and more like the Poms are out of the game.....  :undecided:

But, some quick wickets and I guess that can all change...

Aussies are 2 for 208 so far with a lead of 367....

Lead now over 500, I assume they'll declare with ten overs left tonight.

With six and a bit sessions it is possible for England to get a draw (or even a win is possible) but I won't be placing any bets on that unless the odds are 2000/1.  :D

Will they declare, one would think the ACB would be getting sick of the loss of revenue from 3 and 4 day tests?

But an Australian win might build up the gate for the next couple of tests.

Well, the Second Test is on in Adelaide and things have been very quiet here.....  :whistler:

Aussies declared 9/570 and in reply the poms collapsed to be all out in their first innings for a paltry 172.
Mitchell Johnson claimed 7/40..... :goodjob:

Second innings and the Aussies are 3/68 leading by 466....

Me thinks the poms are gonna be pushing poo up hill to win from here...  :D
