Title: I30 Petrol Fuel Pump Internal Corrosion
Post by: vilro03 on March 27, 2024, 07:04:55
Hi All!

I had my 2019 i30 serviced (60k) and, while changing the fuel filter, the dealership sent me these pictures of the corrosion in the fuel pump.

They say ‘bad fuel’. I said that sort of corrosion would have to be over a long period of time and it’s more likely water making its way into the pump through the seal or a crack.

Has anybody seen this before, or can you explain it?

I live in southern mainland Australia, not too hot, not too cold. Car parked outside but under cover, near the sea.

Have asked for it to be fixed under warranty. Waiting on their reply.

Looking forward to your replies.

Thanks.

I'm inclined to agree with you. It seems to be ingress from the environment rather than the internal effect of contaminated fuel.
