This has been known for yonks, why else would they put the black box at the back of the plane?

Given a choice I nearly always sit near the back.... :goodjob:

Yeah me too Rusty...  Ya never see planes reversing into mountains do ya

Although, I am guessing that hitting sand and hitting concrete at whatever speed protected by a very thin piece of aluminum and some cardboard and sound deadening material ain't gonna be too good for your health.  And with several tons of aviation fuel having got you lit up for fast cooking you might wish you'd been sat with the buggers up front  <sigh>  All in all, I'll pass but thanks anyway

The safest place is in the rear dunny, convenient too. Notice, often the complete tail section breaks rear the rear door, so you sit in the rear dunny, clean yourself up, wait for the fire to subside & then hop out,,, if you survive the impact that is.

Yes, I've known this for years too.
The tail section usually is in tact so as far back as you can get.
