Title: Touch Up Paint Application
Post by: ntebis on July 16, 2018, 09:50:28
Disclaimer: I am sorry if my post sound a bit melodramatic

So my under a month baby car had its first scratch  :'(

I tried to go on a driveway with a weird angle and it scratched under my bumper. And it was not a speed matter as while I was reversing really slow it made that sound.

I know it is under the bumper and it is not visible except if you shove your head under the bumper but I feel the urge to fix it. I read past posts about it but I wanted make sure I have the correct info. Do i just go to Supercheap auto and get some touch up paint with my color codes and just apply it? Do i need to sand the area first? Any other tips?

I've just done the same thing with my Corolla.
What I did was paint it first. I already had the touch up paint.
My next job is to sand it lightly, then reapply the touch up paint.
I doubt I can get all the gouges out but I'll keep at it.

I don't normally sand before touching up. I usually just wipe the area with a cloth with a bit of metholated spirits on it to get rid of any wax. Then just a couple of thin applications with a 10 or so minutes between them to allow the first coat to dry.
