Hi all,

Not been around for a while. Hope all are enjoying the sunshine :D :D :D

Its time to get my car serviced. How long does it take to do a service, 2 hours? 5 hours?

Grateful for any help with this.

 :welcomeback:

If it is anything like over here it depends on the dealer/mechanic and the service. Major service can be two hours or so but a basic service is a bit less.

The variable is how busy they are. My service place asks me when I need the car back and tries to work in with that.

For the interim, 10,000 i waited about 1 hour.

For the 20,000 one i had to leave the car.
Service i think was 2.5 hours

They provided a loan car FOC, all i need to do is replace fuel used.  My insurance covers me to drive loaner while my car is in the garage.

Thanks for the replies.

I have been quoted £228 as the cost of the Service which, looking at the schedule, I feel is excessive. The cost is justified by "....we change brake and clutch fluid.....". The rest of the service is checks and lube hinges.

Think I need to shop around.

Without checking my paperwork that price is about right for this service.

My first service (2014 diesel @ 20,000 miles) cost me £207

Just the usual filters & oil replaced.

Again, thanks for your replies.

For a few hours work and only changing fluids £230 still seems excessive.

I guess they have me over a barrel.............

Just a thought.....

As sturgeon wants scotland to stay in EU if you have any euros from when the rate was higher than today why not pay in Euros.

198 euros will cover it
