Used cars are always sold *as is* so I'm not surprised the sellers don't feel they have to rectify it. You really ought to have made it a condition of the sale that they either replace the housing or discount the car further.

......... the car is very good and there is a few scratches here and there and a crap on the outer rear light but they told me that they can't do anything about it

Yep you right shambles and they did what I asked them to do but unfortunately I didn't see the crack last time or else I would have asked them to change it for me

Is the crack bad enough to let water or dust into the tail light?

I don't know the roadworthy requirements in the UK but over here if the lens is cracked enough to let dust/water into the unit it is deemed unroadworthy...  :undecided:

I don't know about the U.K but in Australia cars aren't sold "as is."
It must be roadworthy.
