I am in aircraft technician, nowadays I'm waiting for the line maintenance station to be open.
To be an aircraft technician means a huge responsibility, cause if something happens to the aircraft in air or either upon landing or take-off it may lead to disaster; it also means you are exposed to cold, heat, snow and etc while working on the apron, especially when it's windy, snowy and the temperature is below -20 degrees and you have to do something with bare palms; it also means you would be inhaling different kind of gases (especially this concerns hydraulic fluid) , tasting different kind of liquids unintentionally (de-icing fluid type 1 is so sweet  :D ).
From another side, while working in aviation one may fly with almost every airline of the world with the significant discounts or even free of charge (depends on the airline's rules), this is the main advantage, there are some others, but not many.

Civil or military aviation? From the description i guess civil?

Civil aviation, although I have got a military specialty too (I'm an officer in reserve; communication facilities and radio support of flights, which is totally different to my civil profession - Maintenance of airframe and power-plants).

Interesting. I used to do some summer job as a student (cleaning airplanes) at the airport (service of the airport) and it was certainly interesting. What I was always amazed, was the fact, how the technician "open" the plane, service it (especially overhaul?), then we clean it and the parts and then it is put together and guess what..it still flies :D I remember, first day I started working, I was rubbing the blades of the engine for 10 or 12 hours (are they even called like that?). Next day cleaning the fuel tanks (sticking my head inside - under the wings), taking seats in/out, cleaning under bonnet,.. Oh and cables...there are so many cables under the cockpit..huh

The planes that were serviced at the airport (Slovenia) were usually: Airbus A310 A320, Canadiar (Bombardier) CRJ-200, CRJ-700.. Once, when we were washing the plane (I think it was A310) with the I-don't-know-how-it-is-called-fluid, which has btw awful taste and is very unpleasant when inhaling it or getting in your eyes, I almost fell off the plain. I Was at the tail section and wasn't tied with anything. I slipped but somehow managed not to skid down. Haha. Also almost fell of the CRJ-700 when we were polishing those "metal" parts, but that plain is really small.

your story is quite interesting, indeed. In fact my first day working as a mechanic for, long time fallen apart airline, Pulkovo aviation enterprise I was almost involved in aircraft cleaning (Tu-154), but once I began I was called to assist in push-back procedures.
Actually I haven't been inside the wing, which is also a fuel tank, thus you were lucky, I guess, unless you inhaled too much fuel vapors to see cartoons  (I know that the tanks are well ventilated before any work can be carried out).
You are right about blades.

So intellegent people drive Hyundai.  Sales reps seem to drive Audi, and Mercedes means Taxi in most countries?

I work for a company that makes Broadcast Audio / Visual electronic equipment.  I'm an electro accoustic engineer and work in the repair / test department.  We supply and to Sky, BBC, ITV Channel 4 and many other television and radio stations accross the world.  If they need support they phone me as most companies no longer have there own engineers.

By the way, no need to fit shallow speakers in the i30.  I have now fitted Pioneer TS-E1702is in the front and the slightly less expensive TS-E1702i in the back.  I originaly upgraded to shallow fit speakers after reading other posts on this forum.
