Home made bread is the best one, lads.

They're good to have - nothing like fresh bread.
Now you just have to become a butcher and a four candle stick maker  :whistler:

Every time I watch the TV news  / hear the radio news it's pretty much the case that the world is in a dire state and everyone's venal / corrupt / victimised / violent / miserable etc et al.  How good to discover anew  a far less skewed perspective on basic, decent humanity. . . thanks to this little forum. Thanks then, Nx for being the restorative that so many with a shaken faith in human nature so greatly need.

And oi. . . don't start blushing.  ;)

WOW .. didnt expect that response!  but thank you.

Dazzler:  Kawasaki is a self limiting illness  .. eg the actual crisis point is limited but there can be several  long term issues because of it.  Primarily the heart is at risk  which is why immediate treatment is necessary to prevent a serious risk of a heart attack.  Long term there are possible issues with learning/behavioural problems and also arthritic issues... not good in young children.   Kawaski is an illness with no known cause & no known cure.
My son had KS (Kawasaki syndrome) @ 18 mths and we were very lucky .  My son has several issues because of KS but he is just coming up 20 yrs old and that I am very grateful for  ... thats more years than some of the group have had with their children.

Flyyte:   Again thank you for your comments.  I do what I do because I remember being so alone in a time when all I needed was to speak to someone that could tell me that they had been though it and somehow there was light and hope .. not even the hospital could give that at the time.  I was determined that I didnt want any parent or family to go thro that ... and in 1993 the net was just being a bit unaffordable for most.

Long story short!  I went into a meeting in London thanks to Contact a Family to meet two other mothers and we came out a Nationa Support Group!  Now we are linked with groups internationally, involved with international/national research as well as helping internationally for families to get in contact with others more local for them!!!

ANYWAY this is not the place to put all this!!!

This is for ppl to put what profession they are in!

(I could if you think acceptable create a topic on Kawasaki if anyone interested!)

I was going to copy this post to a new thread in Other Off Topic but might be better if you start a new one about KS there yourself    with a bit of  a preamble as to why you are posting it (e.g. Several member wanting to know about it and your involvement as outlined above)  :goodjob:

No blushing necessary. Our kids' health is paramount in all our lives. So Dazzler's notion of referencing KS in 'Other Topics', and your willingness to pen a few lines, is an excellent one. I actually thought your website kssg.org was as informative as it gets, so you don't need to reprise it at any length here because people can go have a look for themselves. I for one am very glad I did -- and even more glad, as I wrote earlier, that there are folks like you around.  :goodjob:

I have a short attention span with my jobs...
Began as a graphic reproducer,
became a scuba diving instructor,
worked for an aquatics based school camp doing snorkelling and diving,
took a terrestrial turn and did seed collecting/propagation of Australian indigenous plants,
worked in disabilities,
moved to Tassie and worked at Cradle Mt National Park
and finally....
ended up in WA doing daily presentations to groups of 200 people about Indo Pacific Botttlenose dolphins.....not a bad gig if you can gt it!  :happydance:

As I said...short attention span and shortly on the move again I think.... :whistler:
